Brightwater parkrun, Queensland, Australia.
Brightwater parkrun was a lot busier than I was expecting and even when I thought it could not get any busier a bus pulled up and a lot of school children got out. It was the first and only time I have seen a school group at a parkrun. I never had to do school activities on the weekend, but I would not have minded a parkrun or two. It felt funny running here as my parents used to live a couple of kilometres away, but this whole area was just swamp and bush. With all the population growth they decided to do a bit of dredging and turned it into prime land and the average price of a house is over one and a quarter million dollars Aud. One of the lake front blocks on the parkrun course would have been nice.
In the end there were only 217 runners and walkers, but it felt like a lot more than that.
Two parkrun adventurers. In Australia we have this podcast, the hosts have changed a few times over the years but the arm out wide is the parkrun adventures podcast symbol. Aeroplane flights a big part of parkrun tourist lifestyle.
I think it was the Nudgee College cross country team who showed up in the bus.
Course is flat and fast even though my time was pretty slow it is on concrete around the perimeter of the lake. It starts with the small loop west before circling the lake counterclockwise. There are toilets at the start finish playground area.
