Barwon Heads, Victoria, Australia.
We picked up a couple of house sits recently on the Bellarine Peninsula just southwest of Melbourne in Victorina. The Peninsula is surrounded by a lot of water, Corio Bay near Geelong, Port Philip to the north-east. The Rip to the south-east. Bass Strait and all the surf beaches to the south. I was hoping to be a little closer to some of this water during the house sits but all the urban sprawl has new housing developments popping up everywhere. Most of these housing estates were further from the water than what we are back home. Even so it was still good to get to explore somewhere different or in my case some where I had not been for a long time. Places I could barely remember or that had changed so much, I was questioning if I had ever actually been there before. Barwon Heads and the Bluff lookout were two of these places.
They recon there are heaps of shipwrecks just off this coast. It does not surprise me as the main port of Melbourne is just around the corner.
Looked like a tough day in office for the school children learning to surf.
Barwon Heads used to be called Point Flinders. It has a fishing village vibe and is a popular beach holiday in the summer months. Though the caravan park looks like a pretty good spot for a weekend away anytime.
Thirteenth beach is just around the corner and is named after a 13th golf hole on the other side of the road. I never knew that, I just assumed it was the 13th beach on the Great Ocean Road.

Yep 13th after the golf course. Haven't surfed there in years. Such a nice place Barwon Heads but a bit up itself these days.
Is 13th beach all just open beach breaks or are there any points or secret spots.
It's pretty much beach breaks but there's also reef there so on the right tides the reef creates the break. Secret spots are pretty non existant these days. And if I told you I'd have to kill you :P

One day! Kids need to grow, leave the house.... get their own money... and then we can join LOL
So many places to see and visit! but it is still good to be home too!
