Balmoral Reserve, New South Wales, Australia.

I was not sure we could afford to visit Balmoral, one of the inner northern suburbs of Sydney. I have always heard it was very posh just 8 kilometres from the middle of town. It is named after the castle in Scotland. The median house price has just dropped 5% that is if you can afford the 5 or 6 million Aud dollars needed to acquire one. I was flat out paying for parking the car, so we could have a short walk along the beach and a bit of a picnic near the rotunda in the park.

There are two nice beaches either side of Rock point Island. The nice arched concrete bridge constructed in the late 1920s it sort of looks out of place at low tide.

I did not know there is a naval base hidden under all the trees.

You are spoil for choices with either of the beaches or the shark netted area complete with pier around the perimeter. They recon the baths have been around for a long time and Sydneysider used to catch the tram to visit on hot summer days. I grew up with trams in Melbourne but never knew Sydney had them for over 80 years. Interesting that the two major Australian cities went down totally paths with public transport because Melbourne still has the trams, but Sydney’s are long gone.

Looks like a nice place. We had a few days in Sydney some years ago and didn't get there, but then there was plenty to explore.

There are a few places with trams in the UK, but we have used more around mainland Europe. In some places they are making a comeback.
