Castelldefels Beach - A Paradise Near Barcelona

Hello dear travel lovers. Last week I was in the town of Castelldefels and I want to share the atmosphere of its beach with you. This place is quite charming, with a very shalow entry into the sea, fine sand and an amazing mountain view. There was an incredible crowd at the beach. You can get to this beach using Renfe suburban train lines, known as Cercanias. Although the trains are not visible directly from the beach, they run right along the second line behind the sea. This makes traveling by train very convenient.

We came by car. My advice to anyone driving is to arrive as early as possible. Because finding a parking spot becomes a huge issue around 10 or 11 in the morning.

I must mention that the sand is fine yet firm, making it very pleasant to walk on. It is an absolute dream beach for families with children. The water does not drop off quickly. It deepens very gradually. You can comfortably sit onthe sand and relax. Because the sand is so fine, it is also perfect for building sandcastles and towers.

There were a lot of people around. First off I went on a Sunday and second, this beach is incredibly popular thanks to its wide coastline and shallow waters. We do not come here very often because it takes about 40 minutes from our home, plus we have our own local beach. However, unfortunately, entering the sea back home is not as wonderful. The water gets deep right away and there are mostly pebbles and stones instead of sand. Castelldefels Beach really stands out in this regard.

On top of that, it is extremely scenic. Right across from you lies a beautiful mountain range, while in front of you stretches a crystalclear, open sea view. And the airport is very close by. Because of this, on certain days, you can watch planes landing in or taking off from Barcelona.

The infrastructure here is excellent. There are many beach cafes, known as chiringuitos, open during the summer season. Lifeguard towers are placed along the beach with lifeguards on duty. Wooden boardwalks have been laid down so you can access the beach comfortably. You can also rent sunbeds and umbrellas. From where we were sitting, two more chiringuitos were visible. One right nearby and the other in the white building a bit further down.

At the end of the wooden path, there are showers. After rinsing off, you can get dressed and take a walk around the town or simply stroll directly along the promenade.

By the way before I forget, turtles live on this beach too. Recently an event was organized where baby turtles were released into the sea. Over there, we can see prohibition signs indicating that walking dogs is not allowed. Unfortunately this means bringing pets to the beach is forbidden.

There is a wonderful promenade stretching for several kilometers here. You can go for a run, walk or just have a great time. Right beside it, there is also a lush green lawn area where rabbits live.

On the left the town and the main beachfront start. You can find a lot of of restaurants and bars here, many of which stay open continuously throughout the day. So you never have to worry about whether places are closed or if you will go hungry. You can always find a spot to sit down and relax. Besides there are plenty of chiringuitos operating on the beach from morning until evening.

Residential buildings started appearing on the left side. We turned right and moved closer to the sea. Every 100 meters, big or small, there are beach entrances available. Every single one features showers, wooden walkways, chiringuitos, volleyball nets and everything you need to enjoy your vacation.

Btw because the sand is so fine, it heats up quickly and gets incredibly hot. Walking barefoot on it is nearly impossible. It feels like it is roasting. On the other side, nets are setup where people can play volleyball.Farther out toward the sea, a few people were riding jet skis.

There are areas on the beach with umbrellas and sunbeds for rent. We brought our two umbrellas, chairs and a blanket. As you can see, we came with quite a lot of stuff. Cold drinks, the coffee I brought because we left early, towels. I even brought my goggles, but unfortunately there were no fish at all.
