More spring things in the greenhouse
Springtime is when the cacti bloom and here are some more Turbinicarpus flowers. The first is T. alonsoi and the second T. schmeidickianus
Sulcorebutia is still quite pale, it hasn't fully woken up but the first flower has popped open and there are more buds.
Quite a variable species, this one has red spines and is generally more red, UI was happy to find this one last year on a sale.
One of my baby Astrophytum asterias hybrids flowered for the first time, I have quite a few seedlings that I'm busy rooting, I'll show them once they have settled down, I got them for the equivalent of about 5 cents of HBD and they will need a season or two but I like buying seedlings , they adapt more easily than adult plants and it annoys me to buy large expensive specimens that promptly die

I'm still busy preparing for the show, as well as spraying bugs and repotting plants, capturing escape artists like this little Haworthiopsis tessellata that made it out of the bottom of the pot:
It went to join the parent above in a larger pot along with the other wanderers I found in the soil.
So far I have potted up over 300 seedlings that I bought in trays like these Mammillaria, Parodia, Gymnocalycium, Astrophytum and Frailea.
I only hope I sell enough of them and others that I have been growing in November, they are taking up a lot of space!
I bought a Euphorbia piscidermis aka Fish skin Euphorbia with a friend, they are rare and have always been on my want-list. We bought this cluster to split up and see how we manage. It terrifies me but it is a beauty, just look at those scales!
I'll make a separate post on separating the pups. This plant has been degrafted but they can grow on their own roots, they are just very slow

Ohh pretty! The schmeidickianus has really nice body.
Lovely flowers on Parodia too. One of my Notocactus bloomed again this year, which was a bit weird. Normally they bloom only in spring.
The turbinicarpus have grown well and gotten chunky in the greenhouse, they really love the heat.

Hi nikv, glad to see your post and your beautiful cacti, especially glad to see those Mexican cacti invading the whole world (evil laugh) just kidding, I have always liked the look of your cacti because they always look very healthy, much more than what I can have in my garden with so much humidity.

My cacti look much better now that they are in the greenhouse - I lost quite a few when they were outside and we had some tropical storms move inland and it rained for weeks

In my collection I have not yet been able to have the turbinicarpus, that species is very difficult to give in my country advances very little but they are beautiful, excellent collection friend !!!! šµš

300 seedlings WOW thats some work. I always buy trees very young because of the price and they transplant easily similar to your seedlings. But you have to have patience š

We spent a good chunk of our day cleaning up beds for winter. I like spring better haha
I do all the cleaning in spring but at least I am rewarded with flowers!

Some lovely cactii? catuses? (prickly things š), Mine never seem to flower, ever!

Sadly, cacti kept indoors don't flower because seasonal change is what triggers flowering. A house environment that is comfortable for humans is too constant.

Cactus doesn't bloom if you keep it inside your house so if you have somewhere suitable outside, you will have flowers
Wow! Beautiful cacti flowers! Havenāt seen such flowers for quite some time now. My neighbourās cacti were all lost in the flood.

All pot plants would have been swept away by the flood! I still had to hunt for my disappearing pot plants! I would look for new seeds and saplings to grow new plants. But my neighbour has given up growing new pot plants!! I wouldnāt give up so easily, we need more colourful plants around the house.
