Hi everyone,
Meet the Barbary Macaque, also known as the Magot.
The Barbary macaque has thick fur ranging from yellowish-brown to grey, perfect for enduring harsh mountain winters. What sets it apart the most is the absence of a visible tail.
They live mostly in North Africa's cedar and oak forests.
Sadly, it is now endangered because of habitat loss, climate change, and above all, poaching for the illegal pet trade.
Best regards.
Absolutely! These silent threats often cause much more direct and immediate damage in the short term.
As for me, I was lucky enough to observe them in the wild in the cedar forests. Seeing them thrive in their natural habitat is an incredible experience, but it’s also heartbreaking to think about their vulnerability.
