Trying not to be a spoilt bitch

Writing this post has made me realise two things. One, I'm so spoilt from my trip to the Antarctica last year that it doesn't matter what view is thrown at me now, nothing is ever going to beat it. So I have to keep on reminding myself, don't be such a spoilt bitch, and appreciate what you have in life.

I mean look at these views, they're amazing. The glaciers, they're not the largest, but they've probably existed for thousands if not millions of years. Given the current climate, they won't last forever, and we really need to appreciate them if we ever get the opportunity to see one. And I was so lucky that I got to see not just one, but two during my trip!

The second thing writing this post has made me realise, is how fortunate I am with a good stable internet connection at home. Currently my internet is really weak and my default Peakd front-end won't upload any images, it just gives me an upload error message. Luckily we have many options on Hive. On Ecency it takes me 3 or 4 minutes just to upload an image which is still a lot longer than at home, and sometimes it's still unsuccessful and I have to be real patient and keep on repeat upload. It's taken me well over an hour to upload these images and I have to get used to navigating around another frontend but I got there in the end.

Anyway, this post is a photo dump of my recent trip to ... somewhere. The location will be revealed when I start posting about it later on. I just wanted to share these images first because I think they're still pretty amazing despite what I said about no views will ever beat the Antarctica.

This place is pretty remote, in my half day cruising around here, I didn't even see a single bird, nor any other wildlife. It's freakin crazy. But these last two images are pretty special. Admidst this remote wilderness lies a little village, with a population of around one hundred.

I zoomed in the maximum 8x on my phone to take this image and saw the houses. From the images I saw on the internet, there are a few more houses, and they're all clustered around here. I also read they're pretty much off grid, but I wonder if that has improved since Starlink has become available. Either way, it's so hard to imagine what it's like living here because the nearest town is 1.5 hours away by boat. I think you'll have to be born here, or really don't like people that much to live here.

We didn't stop at the village, but I know some other tours does, and are welcomed by the villagers. It must be nice for them when they get visitors, makes a nice change from what I imagine must be a rather quiet and peaceful daily life.
