🌅Although today was also a sunny day perfect for shadow hunting, I found these photos from a while ago in my gallery and decided to take a leap through time and space back to October of last year. Join me on this journey! 🕳️☄️📸

​🏰 Aunque hoy también fue un día soleado y perfecto para cazar buenas sombras, encontré estas fotos de hace un tiempo en mi galería y decidí dar un salto en el tiempo y en el espacio a octubre del año pasado y traerlos en este viaje conmigo 🕳️☄️📸

🌅We are heading to Venezuela during a trip to the beach on the final days of our vacation.

🏰​Nos trasladamos a Venezuela durante un paseo a la playa, en los últimos días de nuestras vacaciones.

🌅We went to Puerto Cabello and, after spending some time at the beach, we decided to climb up to Fortín Solano—a military fortress built in 1766, located in what is now San Esteban National Park.

​🏰Fuimos a Puerto Cabello y, después de estar un rato en la playa, decidimos subir al Fortín Solano, una fortaleza militar ubicada en el actual Parque Nacional San Esteban, construida en el año 1766.

🌅Although we couldn't explore the entire fort because access was limited by the time we arrived, we were able to spend some quality time at the viewpoint at the top of El Vigía crest, which offers spectacular views.

​🏰Aunque no pudimos explorar el fuerte en su totalidad porque a la hora que llegamos el acceso era limitado, pudimos pasar un buen rato en el mirador de la cima de la cresta El Vigía, desde el cual se pueden apreciar unas vistas espectaculares.

🌅Even though we were tired and a bit sunburned, we enjoyed the climb, which is quite steep and great for exercise 👆. In this photo, we were walking the last stretch before reaching the viewpoint, and I loved how the shadows of the fence on the sides of the path ended up blending in with the square tiles on the ground.

​🏰A pesar de estar ya cansados y algo quemados por el sol, disfrutamos la subida, que es bastante empinada y buena para hacer ejercicio 👆. En esta foto íbamos andando el último trecho que faltaba antes de llegar al mirador y me gustó cómo las sombras del enrejado a los lados del camino se acabaron mimetizando con las lozas cuadradas del suelo.

🌅A while ago, I shared views here of a cliff in Galicia that also used to have cannon batteries. That was my first time seeing something like that, as I had never been to an old naval watchpost. Now, back in my own country, I found myself in one again. I stood in the center of what used to be the base of one of the cannons and spoke and shouted to feel the acoustic effect created by the location, the rounded shape, and the materials used to build the fort's walls.

​🏰Hace un tiempo compartí aquí las vistas de un acantilado en Galicia en el que también solía haber baterías de cañón; esa fue la primera vez que yo veía algo así, pues nunca había estado en un antiguo puesto de vigilancia naval. Ahora, de vuelta en mi propio país, volví a estar en uno; me puse de pie en el centro de lo que solía ser la base de uno de los cañones, y hablé y grité para sentir el efecto acústico generado por la ubicación, la forma redondeada y los materiales en los que fueron construidos los muros del fuerte.

🌅This effect happens because the sound you emit bounces back and returns amplified to the center of the circle, giving the sensation that you're hearing your voice multiplied. Only you, the person standing at the acoustic focus, can feel it. It's a very fun effect, and I've read that it can also be experienced in places like the Whispering Gallery at St. Paul's Cathedral (London), Grand Central Terminal (New York), Castillo de San Felipe in Cartagena de Indias, or in Greek Theaters, where sound reflection allowed thousands to hear the actor in the center.

​🏰El efecto se debe a que el sonido que emites rebota y regresa amplificado al centro del círculo, dando la sensación de que escuchas tu voz multiplicada; solo tú, que eres la persona ubicada en el foco acústico, puedes sentirlo. Es un efecto muy divertido y he leído que también se puede experimentar en lugares como La Galería de los Susurros en la Catedral de San Pablo (Londres), la Terminal Grand Central (Nueva York), el Castillo de San Felipe en Cartagena de Indias o en los teatros griegos, donde la reflexión del sonido permitía que miles escucharan al actor en el centro.

🌅While this post focuses on my participation in the shadow contest, I don't want to leave without sharing some of the beautiful views of downtown Puerto Cabello that we enjoyed from up there.
