[ENG/ESP] Work, exhaustion, and a small victory

The workdays continue, and with them our unwavering commitment to doing things right, fulfilling every responsibility, and leaving each project in the best possible condition. I wish everyone a wonderful, relaxing weekend, filled with peace and those little moments that help recharge your batteries. As for me, I’ll get my own break once we finish these tasks at the hotel and get the plant up and running properly. Only then will I be able to breathe easy and allow myself a well-deserved break.
Today we didn’t leave home quite as early. It was around 8:30 a.m., a slightly more body-friendly time, because honestly, we needed to give ourselves a break. The work has been very intense all week. We’ve had to be at the hotel early in the morning giving instructions, supervising every detail, and then, when we got home in the late afternoons and evenings, continue with calculations, budgets, and reviews. On average, we’ve slept barely five or six hours a day, and although you get used to it, the body always takes its toll. That’s why we want to finish this project as soon as possible, so we can rest properly, with a relaxed mind and the sense of a job well done.
To get to the hotel, we took Simplicio Rodríguez Avenue, as we almost always do. There’s something special about that road: its open landscapes, the breeze coming in from the sea, and that blue vista that peeks through the trees and clears our minds so effectively. It’s a route that, even on days when we’re tired, helps us gather our thoughts and start the day with a little more peace of mind.

Continúan los días de trabajo y con ellos nuestro compromiso firme de hacer las cosas bien, de cumplir con cada responsabilidad y de dejar cada proyecto en las mejores condiciones posibles. A todos les deseo un hermoso y descansado fin de semana, lleno de calma y de esos pequeños momentos que ayudan a recargar energías. Yo, por mi parte, tendré mi propio descanso cuando logremos terminar estas labores en el hotel y arranquemos la planta como debe ser. Solo entonces podré respirar con tranquilidad y permitirme una pausa merecida.
Este día no salimos tan temprano de casa. Fue alrededor de las 8:30 a. m., una hora un poco más amable para el cuerpo, porque sinceramente necesitábamos darle un respiro. El trabajo ha sido muy intenso durante toda la semana. Hemos tenido que estar en el hotel desde temprano dando orientaciones, supervisando cada detalle, y luego, al llegar a casa en las tardes-noches, continuar con cálculos, presupuestos y revisiones. En promedio hemos dormido apenas cinco o seis horas diarias, y aunque uno se acostumbra, el cuerpo siempre pasa factura. Por eso queremos concluir este trabajo cuanto antes, para poder descansar debidamente, con la mente relajada y la sensación de deber cumplido.
Para llegar al hotel tomamos, como casi siempre, la avenida Simplicio Rodríguez. Esa vía tiene algo especial; sus paisajes abiertos, la brisa que viene del mar y esa vista azul que aparece entre los árboles y que tanto nos despeja la mente. Es un trayecto que, incluso en días de cansancio, ayuda a ordenar los pensamientos y a comenzar la jornada con un poco más de serenidad.

When we arrived at the hotel, we went straight to the desalination plant, because that’s where all the work has been focused these past few days.

Al llegar al hotel fuimos enseguida a la planta desalinizadora, porque allí se concentra todo el trabajo de estos días.

We began with the standard checks, verifying pressures, inspecting connections, and ensuring that every parameter was within the expected range. This type of work requires time, patience, and near-perfect coordination. We all have to work in sync to avoid mistakes that would force us to repeat processes. It is a technical, demanding job that leaves no room for distractions.

Comenzamos con los análisis de rigor, verificando presiones, revisando conexiones y asegurándonos de que cada parámetro estuviera dentro de lo esperado. Este tipo de labor requiere tiempo, paciencia y una coordinación casi perfecta. Todos debemos trabajar sincronizados para evitar errores que nos obliguen a repetir procesos. Es un trabajo técnico, exigente y que no perdona distracciones.

As if the pressure of work weren’t enough, one of the banks we use started having problems. And the truth is, in the midst of it all, I’ve had to be grateful for this platform, because thanks to it I’ve been able to cover some snack expenses and small day-to-day needs. I hope to resolve the bank issue soon, because that’s where most of my income is, and it’s hard not to have access to it when I need it most.
After lunch, we returned to the plant to continue. Despite our exhaustion, we managed to make progress. We were able to get one of the three generators up and running, which allows the hotel to maintain at least minimal operations and ensures that no essential services are interrupted. It’s not a complete solution, but it’s a significant relief for everyone. Knowing that the hotel won’t be left without power gives us a little peace of mind.

Como si la presión del trabajo no fuera suficiente, uno de los bancos que utilizamos comenzó a presentar problemas. Y la verdad es que, en medio de todo, he tenido que agradecer a esta plataforma, porque gracias a ella he podido cubrir algunos gastos de merienda y pequeñas necesidades del día a día. Espero resolver pronto el dilema del banco, porque allí tengo la mayor parte de mis ingresos y es difícil no poder disponer de ellos cuando más se necesitan.
Después del horario de almuerzo regresamos nuevamente a la planta para continuar. A pesar del cansancio, logramos avanzar. Pudimos dejar una de las tres baterías funcionando, lo que permite que el hotel tenga al menos un mínimo de producción y no se detenga ningún servicio esencial. No es la solución completa, pero sí un respiro importante para todos. Saber que el hotel no quedará desprovisto nos da un poco de tranquilidad.

With that small victory of the day—even though the work isn’t finished yet—we left the hotel feeling more at ease. Now we have some breathing room to look for a few parts and materials we’ll need the next day. That sense of having made progress, even if it’s just one step, always helps us end the day on a different note.

Con esa pequeña victoria del día, aunque el trabajo aún no está terminado, nos retiramos del hotel más tranquilos. Ahora tenemos un margen para buscar algunas piezas y materiales que necesitaremos al día siguiente. Esa sensación de haber avanzado, aunque sea un paso, siempre ayuda a cerrar la jornada con un ánimo distinto.
