[ENG/ESP] When life throws unexpected challenges your way, but you keep moving forward

Mine, like every day, will be wonderful… or at least I try to picture it that way, because I firmly believe that the way you see yourself has a huge impact on how things turn out. Today I want to share a little more of my daily life with you—even though it’s simple, it always brings some unexpected lesson or anecdote.
Yesterday was a pretty damp day. It rained on and off during the early morning and also in the morning, leaving that smell of wet earth that is sometimes comforting and other times just complicates things. However, the rain didn’t stop work from going on as usual. When it’s time to work, it’s time, so my husband and I headed out as usual to carry out our routine at the Sunsol Unik hotel and then deliver a quote at the Parque Costa Azul shopping center.
On the way, something unexpected happened. A water truck passed by us, and when it hit a rock, it flew straight into our windshield. The glass cracked immediately. The truck driver stopped and told us to find a place to replace it, saying he could help us with half the cost because he couldn’t afford more. We appreciated his honesty and kindness, and decided it was best to finish our tasks for the day first and then look for a place to replace the glass.

El mío, como cada día, será excelente… o al menos trato de visualizarlo así, porque creo firmemente que la manera en que uno se proyecta influye muchísimo en cómo se desarrolla todo. Hoy quiero compartirles un pedacito más de mi día a día, que aunque sencillo, siempre trae alguna enseñanza o anécdota inesperada.
Ayer fue un día bastante húmedo. Llovió a intervalos durante la madrugada y también en la mañana, dejando ese olor a tierra mojada que a veces reconforta y otras veces solo complica las cosas. Sin embargo, la lluvia no impidió que el trabajo siguiera su curso. Cuando toca trabajar, toca, así que mi esposo y yo salimos como de costumbre para cumplir con nuestra rutina en el hotel Sunsol Unik y luego entregar un presupuesto en el centro comercial Parque Costa Azul.
En el camino ocurrió algo que no esperábamos. Un camión de agua pasó por nuestro lado y, al pisar una piedra, esta salió disparada directo hacia nuestro parabrisas. El vidrio se cuarteó de inmediato. El conductor del camión se detuvo y nos dijo que buscáramos dónde reemplazarlo, que él podía ayudarnos con la mitad del costo, porque no tenía para más. Agradecimos su sinceridad y su intención, y decidimos que lo mejor era cumplir primero con nuestras tareas del día y luego dedicarnos a buscar dónde cambiar el vidrio.
We arrived at the Sunsol Unik Hotel and carried out our usual routine: chlorinating and disinfecting the main pool. Everything went very smoothly, and the levels were within the ideal range, which always gives us a sense of satisfaction and peace of mind. Knowing that the job is done right is a reward in itself.
Llegamos al hotel Sunsol Unik y realizamos nuestra rutina de trabajo; la cloración y desinfección del tanque principal. Todo salió muy bien, los niveles quedaron dentro de los parámetros ideales, lo cual siempre nos da una sensación de satisfacción y tranquilidad. Saber que el trabajo está bien hecho es una recompensa en sí misma.
When we were done, we walked to the shopping center just a few meters away. We handed in the quote and took the opportunity to look around. We went up to the top floor to take an elevator, and from the balcony we could see some artists working on decorating a boat. It was beautiful to watch how, with patience and talent, they were transforming a simple structure into a piece full of color and life. Those kinds of moments, though brief, always fill my soul.
Al terminar, caminamos hasta el centro comercial que queda a pocos metros. Entregamos el presupuesto y aprovechamos para dar una vuelta. Subimos a la planta alta para tomar una barquilla y desde el balcón pudimos ver a unos artistas trabajando en la decoración de un bote. Era hermoso ver cómo, con paciencia y talento, iban transformando una simple estructura en una pieza llena de color y vida. Ese tipo de momentos, aunque breves, siempre me llenan el alma.
Then we got back to our mission for the day: finding a place to get the windshield repaired. We drove all over town, asking around, comparing prices, and listening to different options.
Luego retomamos nuestra misión del día; buscar dónde arreglar el parabrisas. Fuimos de un lado a otro por la ciudad, preguntando, comparando precios, escuchando opciones.
We finally arrived at “Auto Parabrisas,” where we’d been told they’d likely have the windshield for our car model. And that’s exactly what happened. They had it in stock and gave us a quote of $190, which turned out to be the cheapest option. Now we have to come up with half that amount in a few days to get the problem fixed.
Finalmente llegamos a “Auto Parabrisas”, donde nos habían dicho que probablemente sí tendrían el vidrio para nuestro modelo de auto. Y así fue. Lo tenían disponible y nos dieron un presupuesto de ciento noventa dólares, que resultó ser el más económico. Ahora nos toca reunir la mitad de ese monto en pocos días para poder resolver el problema.
With all that information in hand, we headed home to analyze, discuss, and reach a consensus on how to handle this unexpected expense. Even so, we ended the day feeling satisfied that we’d completed our tasks and had a clear plan for resolving the issue.
