A great week is beginning, and before I get back to my tasks, I just have to wish you all the very best as well. My week is packed with commitments—the kind that bring new challenges and learning opportunities—but today I want to take a moment to tell you about something that filled me with joy and made my Sunday truly special: my araguaney tree has bloomed in all its glory.

For those unfamiliar with this tree, the araguaney is Venezuela’s national tree, a symbol of strength, resilience, and beauty. It is a tree that, no matter how severe the drought, always finds a way to bloom. It typically blooms in May, when the first rains begin, as if nature were giving it the signal to awaken. This year, however, the rains were slow in coming; the drought was longer and more intense than usual. It has only been raining intermittently for the past week, but it has been enough for many of Margarita’s mountains to be covered in that vibrant yellow that heralds the arrival of the araguaney.

I am fortunate enough to experience this firsthand, because one of those trees lives right in my backyard. Throughout the year, it remains full of leaves, offering shade and movement, but between March and April, when it hardly rains, it begins to lose them little by little until it is completely bare. Only its dry, still branches remain, as if it were asleep. But at the tips, small buds begin to appear, patiently waiting for the first rain to awaken.

And when that first drop falls, the magic begins. The buds swell, slowly opening, and the tree begins to turn yellow. It’s a process that’s truly moving, because every day you can see a change, a new glow.

Until, all of a sudden, the entire tree is cloaked in a deep, radiant, almost luminous yellow. It’s as if, in the midst of cloudy days, the sun had decided to settle upon it.

That burst of color lasts only a few days, because then the flowers begin to fall gently, forming a golden carpet on the ground. Then new leaf buds appear, which will quietly accompany it for a whole year, until the next blooming.

This is the third year my araguaney has bloomed, and each time it does so with greater vigor and beauty. My neighbors already know it; many stop by for coffee and to take pictures of it, because it really is a sight to behold. I feel happy and grateful to have it at home, to watch it grow, and to share it with those who appreciate it.
Last year, after blooming, the tree produced seed heads. I managed to pick one before it opened and scattered in the wind. I gave it to a neighbor, and they planted it; it’s still small, but our hope is that, over time, we’ll be able to share more araguaney trees with anyone who wants one in their yard. Our street is named “Araguaney,” and paradoxically, there’s only one—mine. We want to change that, even though we know it’s a slow process. Trees have their own rhythm, and they just ask for patience.
Dear friends, I couldn’t resist sharing with you the joy that my araguaney’s blooming brought me. I hope you enjoyed the photos I took to show you this little bit of the happiness we share at home.

Wowwww, its vibrant color is seriously so good to the eyes. Its color scream peace and love, it is a beautiful tree that when in full bloom, it become the yellow version of cherry blossoms. I have no other word for it but BEAUTIFUL.
That’s exactly how I feel every time I look at it. There’s something magical about that intense yellow—it’s as if it lights up everything around it. When it blooms like this, you can’t help but pause for a moment in silence, simply enjoying its beauty. It’s a tree that touches the soul, and yes… it’s beautiful, in every sense of the word.
