[ENG/ESP] A workday filled with the magic of Margarita’s climate
Hello, I hope you have a wonderful day—one of those days when everything flows smoothly and effortlessly, as if the universe were aligning itself to give us little joys. Today dawned quite sunny and bright, just like yesterday. Days like this have a special charm; they motivate us, lift our spirits, and make us feel like any task can turn out well.
I went to the Ecoland Hotel recently and want to tell you how it went. That day the weather was as beautiful as it is today, with a clear sky that looked like it had been hand-painted. As is our routine at home, we got up early. After the three of us had breakfast together, we headed out. Our son went off to his activities and we went about ours.
Just by opening the door and feeling the pleasant weather, we knew everything was going to go smoothly.
We headed to the Ecoland Hotel at the request of the quality manager. Due to the water emergency the island is facing, the hotel is receiving well water to fill its tanks, and in situations like this, you have to be very careful about water quality. That’s why they asked us to perform the necessary disinfection and chlorination. We took Simplicio Rodríguez Avenue, where the smell of saltpeter and that characteristic fresh sea breeze accompany you the whole way.

Hoy amaneció bastante soleado y radiante, igual que ayer. Los días así tienen un encanto especial; motivan, levantan el ánimo y hacen que uno sienta que cualquier tarea puede salir bien.
En estos días fui al Hotel Ecoland y quiero contarles cómo me fue. Ese día el clima estaba tan hermoso como el de hoy, con un cielo despejado que parecía pintado a mano. Como ya es rutina en casa, nos levantamos temprano. Después de desayunar los tres juntos, salimos. Nuestro hijo salió a sus actividades y nosotros a las nuestras.
Solo con abrir la puerta y sentir el clima tan agradable, supimos que todo iba a fluir de la mejor manera.
Nos dirigimos al Hotel Ecoland por un pedido del gerente de calidad. Debido a la emergencia hidráulica que atraviesa la Isla, el hotel está recibiendo agua de pozo para surtir sus tanques, y en situaciones así hay que ser muy cuidadosos con la calidad del agua. Por eso nos solicitaron realizar la desinfección y el clorado correspondiente. Tomamos la avenida Simplicio Rodríguez, donde el olor a salitre y esa frescura marina tan característica te acompañan durante todo el camino.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted by the charismatic Carel. She’s such a sweetheart; even on the toughest days, she always has a smile ready to share. She’s one of those people whose absence is felt, because her energy makes everything run more smoothly. Thanks to her positive attitude, any task feels easier.
Due to the plumbing emergency, we had to chlorinate and disinfect both tanks—the main one and the Australian-style one. Luckily, we always carry extra supplies in case of any setbacks. The work took a little longer because they were transferring water from one tank to another, and that process couldn’t be stopped. While we waited, we took the opportunity to admire the beautiful scenery visible from that spot. Since the weather was so nice, the view was spectacular! In the distance, we could clearly see the lagoon and the beach, both glistening in the sun.
Al llegar al hotel nos recibió la carismática Carel. Ella es un amor de persona; incluso en los días más complicados siempre tiene una sonrisa lista para ofrecer. Es de esas personas cuya ausencia se nota, porque su energía hace que todo fluya mejor. Gracias a su buena disposición, cualquier trabajo se siente más ligero.
Debido a la emergencia hidráulica, debíamos clorar y desinfectar los dos tanques; el principal y el australiano. Por suerte, siempre cargamos producto adicional por si surge algún contratiempo. El trabajo se demoró un poco porque estaban trasegando agua de un tanque a otro y ese proceso no podía detenerse. Mientras esperábamos, aprovechamos para contemplar los paisajes hermosos que se ven desde ese punto. Como el clima estaba tan favorable, la vista era espectacular! a lo lejos se apreciaba claramente la laguna y la playa, ambas brillando bajo el sol.
Across the pond, you could see a panoramic view of the hotel, the hills in the distance, and its beautiful beach. It was like looking at a painting created by the greatest artist of all: Mother Nature. Every detail seemed to have been placed there on purpose, from the glistening water to the way the clouds drifted slowly by.
Del otro lado del tanque se podía ver una panorámica del hotel, los cerros en la distancia y su hermosa playa. Era como observar una pintura hecha por la mejor artista; la madre naturaleza. Cada detalle parecía colocado con intención, desde el brillo del agua hasta la forma en que las nubes se movían lentamente.
When the time came, we began disinfecting and chlorinating the Australian tank. Although it’s the smallest one, it has the narrowest ladder and entrance, so you always have to be very careful when climbing up.
Cuando llegó el momento, comenzamos a desinfectar y clorar el tanque australiano. Aunque es el más pequeño, tiene la escalera y la entrada más angosta, así que siempre hay que ser muy precavidos al subir.
After thoroughly disinfecting it, we move on to the main tank, which is much larger. Because of its size, it has additional safety features: a railing along the top and non-slip treads on the stairs. These details, though they may seem simple, are essential for those of us who climb up there every week to do this work.
Después de dejarlo completamente desinfectado, pasamos al tanque principal, que es mucho más grande. Por su tamaño cuenta con mayor seguridad: barandal en la parte superior y antirresbalante en las escaleras. Estos detalles, aunque parezcan simples, son fundamentales para quienes subimos cada semana a realizar este trabajo.
We completed the disinfection and chlorination without a hitch. We checked the readings, and everything came out perfectly. Before heading down, we took one last look at the scenery—the kind that always gives us a moment of peace. Then we took a quick tour of the hotel until we reached the office, where we handed in the invoices so we could leave.
Realizamos la desinfección y el clorado sin ningún contratiempo. Medimos los valores y todo salió excelente. Antes de bajar, le dimos una última mirada al paisaje, ese que siempre nos regala un momento de paz. Luego hicimos un pequeño recorrido por el hotel hasta llegar a la oficina, donde entregamos las facturas para poder retirarnos.
On the way back, we crossed the bridge from which you can see the entrance to the channel leading to the lagoon and the beach. Almost every time I pass by there, I like to take pictures. The fishermen’s boats, fresh from their catch, look beautiful. I also enjoy that scent of the sea and fresh fish—a unique blend that’s part of the island’s identity.
De regreso, pasamos por el puente desde donde se divisa la entrada del canal hacia la laguna y la playa. Casi siempre que paso por allí me gusta tomar fotos. Los barcos de los pescadores, recién llegados de su faena, se ven hermosos. También disfruto ese aroma a mar y pescado fresco, una mezcla única que forma parte de la identidad isleña.
After that brief moment of reflection, we continued on our way home with the satisfaction of a job well done. That sense of duty is what drives us every day to get up, keep moving forward, work hard, and stay focused.
