[ENG/ESP] A Thursday of teamwork and goals achieved

I hope you all have a happy Friday. Today is May 1st, Labor Day, and I’m sure many of you are at home enjoying a well-deserved rest. We’ve decided not to work either; we want to take a stroll along one of Margarita’s beautiful beaches. In my next post, I’ll tell you how it went, because today I want to share with you how my Thursday unfolded—a day that began like any other but ended leaving us with a deep sense of satisfaction.
When we left home, it looked like it would be a quiet day, one of those where the routine flows smoothly. The weather was excellent; the sky was clear, with a light breeze, and those urban and natural landscapes that always accompany us on the way to the Sunsol Unik Hotel. Every time we take that route, I feel like the island gives us a different postcard view, and that makes even workdays have their own charm.

Les deseo un feliz viernes a todos. Hoy es primero de mayo, Día del Trabajador, y seguramente muchos estarán en casa disfrutando un merecido descanso. Nosotros también decidimos no trabajar; queremos darnos un paseo por una de las hermosas playas de Margarita. En mi próxima publicación les contaré cómo nos fue, porque en esta ocasión quiero compartirles cómo transcurrió mi día jueves, un día que comenzó como cualquier otro, pero terminó dejándonos una sensación profunda de satisfacción.
Cuando salimos de casa parecía que sería una jornada tranquila, de esas en las que la rutina fluye sin contratiempos. El clima estaba excelente; el cielo claro, con un poco de brisa y esos paisajes urbanos y naturales que siempre nos acompañan en el camino hacia el Hotel Sunsol Unik. Cada vez que hacemos ese recorrido, siento que la isla nos regala una postal distinta, y eso hace que incluso los días de trabajo tengan su propio encanto.

When we arrived at the hotel, the first thing we did was check the water in the tank so we could carry out our routine chlorination and disinfection of the main tank. Everything went perfectly. The parameters were within the correct range, which always gives us peace of mind and a sense of a job well done.

Al llegar al hotel, lo primero que hicimos fue verificar el agua del tanque para realizar nuestra rutina de clorado y desinfección del tanque principal. Todo salió perfecto. Los parámetros quedaron dentro de los valores correctos, lo que siempre nos da tranquilidad y una sensación de trabajo bien hecho.

As soon as we finished, the maintenance manager arrived to let us know that the bolts for the damaged filter cover had arrived—a task that had been pending at the hotel for days. It looked like we’d finally be able to take care of it that Thursday.
We went down to the area known as La Trinchera, where the filters are located. The work would be limited to filter number 1, where we had to replace all the studs with new stainless steel ones. It was necessary because, as I mentioned in another post, one of the old studs had broken due to pressure, causing the filter to start leaking water. And since there’s always a risk that others might be compromised, we decided to replace them all to prevent future problems.

Apenas terminamos, llegó el jefe de mantenimiento para informarnos que habían llegado los espárragos para la tapa del filtro dañado, un trabajo pendiente que teníamos en el hotel desde hacía días. Al parecer, ese jueves por fin podríamos resolverlo.
Bajamos al área conocida como La Trinchera, donde se encuentran los filtros. El trabajo sería únicamente en el filtro número 1, al que debíamos cambiarle todos los espárragos por unos nuevos de acero inoxidable. Era algo necesario, porque como les conté en otra publicación, uno de los espárragos anteriores se había quebrado por la presión, lo que provocó que el filtro comenzara a botar agua. Y como siempre existe el riesgo de que otros estén resentidos, preferimos cambiarlos todos para evitar futuros problemas.

The job took some time. We had to make sure there were no leaks, because any water leak affects the pressure and compromises the system’s operation. My husband and Luis handled the heavy lifting, since it was a job that required both strength and precision. I focused on assisting them, handing them the necessary tools and materials so that everything would run smoothly. It was true teamwork—the kind that reminds you that every role, no matter how small it may seem, is important to achieving a good result.

El trabajo tomó su tiempo. Había que asegurarse de que no quedara ninguna fuga, porque cualquier escape de agua afecta la presión y compromete el funcionamiento del sistema. Mi esposo y Luis se encargaron de la parte más fuerte, porque era un trabajo de fuerza y precisión. Yo me dediqué a asistirlos, alcanzándoles las herramientas y materiales necesarios para que todo fluyera sin interrupciones. Fue un verdadero trabajo en equipo, de esos que te recuerdan que cada rol, por pequeño que parezca, es importante para lograr un buen resultado.

When we finished installing all the struts and made sure the filter was properly assembled, we felt a huge sense of relief. Not only because the job had been a bit complicated, but also because everything turned out perfectly. We left the hotel with that sense of satisfaction you only feel when you know you’ve fulfilled your responsibility and left everything working as it should.

Cuando terminamos de colocar todos los espárragos y dejamos el filtro armado correctamente, sentimos un gran alivio. No solo porque el trabajo había sido un poco complicado, sino porque todo salió muy bien. Nos retiramos del hotel con esa satisfacción que solo se siente cuando sabes que cumpliste con tu responsabilidad y dejaste todo funcionando como debe ser.

That’s how our Thursday ended—tired but happy, with the peace of mind that comes from having resolved an outstanding issue.
