[ENG/ESP] A Sunday that dawned full of good cheer
A new week is beginning, and with it come challenges, responsibilities, and that drive that pushes us to keep moving forward. That’s why today I want to wish you all a great, productive day full of positive energy. There’s nothing like starting the week with renewed energy, especially after a Sunday that, in my case, was a real breather for both body and mind. The truth is, I needed to rest after such a hectic week—one of those that seem to never end.
On Sunday, we got up not too early, letting our bodies wake up at their own pace. We still needed to go grocery shopping, because we couldn’t do it on Friday due to work. And although we don’t really like grocery shopping on Sundays—because you can’t always find everything and there are usually more people—we had no other choice. Before, a few years ago, we could buy everything in one place, without any hassle. But these days it’s not like that anymore; you find one thing in one place, another in another, and in the end you end up making a complete tour of several markets.
Even so, we left the house in good spirits and began our tour. The weather, at times, was radiant, with a beautiful light that made the scenery look like something out of a postcard. Those little details always brighten the day, even when it comes to running errands.
Comienza una nueva semana y, con ella, llegan también los retos, las responsabilidades y ese impulso que nos invita a seguir adelante. Por eso hoy quiero desearles un día genial, productivo y lleno de buena energía. Nada como iniciar la semana con ánimo renovado, sobre todo después de un domingo que, en mi caso, fue un verdadero respiro para el cuerpo y la mente. La verdad es que necesitaba descansar después de una semana tan agitada, de esas que parecen no terminar nunca.
El domingo nos levantamos no muy temprano, dejando que el cuerpo despertara a su propio ritmo. Teníamos pendiente salir a hacer mercado, porque el viernes no pudimos hacerlo debido al trabajo. Y aunque no nos gusta mucho hacer mercado los domingos —porque no siempre se consigue todo y suele haber más gente— no nos quedó otra opción. Antes, hace algunos años, podíamos comprar todo en un solo lugar, sin complicaciones. Pero en estos tiempos ya no es así; en un sitio encuentras una cosa, en otro otra, y al final terminas haciendo un recorrido completo por varios mercados.
Aun así, salimos de casa con buen ánimo y comenzamos nuestro recorrido. El clima, por momentos, estaba radiante, con una luz hermosa que hacía que los paisajes parecieran sacados de una postal. Esos detalles siempre alegran el día, incluso cuando se trata de hacer diligencias.
Our first stop was the Sigo Market, where we also have customers and some products at great prices. Since it was Sunday, the atmosphere was quite lively. There was music, people bustling about, and even groups dressed up as characters from the Mexican TV series El Chavo del Ocho, which added a fun and unique touch to the morning. Between shopping and laughing, we checked off the items we needed from our list, though we were still missing a few things.
Nuestra primera parada fue el mercado Sigo, donde además tenemos clientes y algunos productos con muy buena oferta. Por ser domingo, el ambiente estaba bastante activo. Había música, movimiento y hasta grupos disfrazados de personajes de la serie mexicana El Chavo del Ocho, lo que le daba un toque divertido y diferente a la mañana. Entre compras y risas, fuimos tachando de la lista lo que necesitábamos, aunque aún nos faltaban algunas cosas.
So we headed over to the Más por Menos market. There, we strolled leisurely through the aisles, looking for what we needed. By then it was lunchtime, and since the food looked fresh and delicious, we decided to eat right there. It was an excellent decision. We ordered a potato salad, plantain slices, and a chicken breast steak topped with cheese and corn, accompanied by a flavored sparkling water. Everything was really tasty, and that little break in the middle of our tour was just what we needed.
Por eso nos dirigimos luego al mercado Más por Menos. Allí recorrimos los pasillos con calma, buscando lo que nos faltaba. Ya para ese momento era hora de almorzar, y como la comida se veía fresca y deliciosa, decidimos hacerlo allí mismo. Fue una excelente decisión. Pedimos una ensalada de papa, tajadas y un bistec de pechuga de pollo gratinado con queso y maíz, acompañado de un agua saborizada con gas. Todo estaba realmente sabroso, y ese pequeño descanso en medio del recorrido nos cayó de maravilla.
After lunch, we paid for our items and went to the register; right next to it was a very original decoration that perfectly captured the spirit of the World Cup. We then left the Maneiro area, having enjoyed its excellent slopes.
Después de almorzar, pagamos nuestros productos y fuimos a pagar y muy cerca de la caja había una decoración muy a tono con el mundial de fútbol muy original, después nos retiramos del sector Maneiro apreciando sus excelentes pistas.
All that was left was to head home, settle in, and finally get the rest we’d been looking forward to. Our son had picked out a movie for us to watch together, so we ended the day as a family, relaxing and enjoying that comforting moment.
Ya solo nos quedaba regresar a casa, acomodar todo y entregarnos al descanso que tanto habíamos esperado. Nuestro hijo había separado una película para ver juntos, así que cerramos el día en familia, tranquilos, disfrutando de ese momento que siempre reconforta.
That’s how our Sunday went: running errands, taking in beautiful scenery, enjoying a nice lunch, and ending the day with family—which made it all worth it. Sometimes it’s the simple days that we appreciate the most.

It amaze me how you make time for grocery shopping despite your busy schedules. It makes me remember that before I also work hard and can only get rest during Sundays.
Fortunately, that intense pace isn't constant. It only happens at certain times of the year, when demands increase for a while.
