[ENG/ESP] A Saturday that gave us the peace of mind to move forward step by step
I hope you all have a nice break. This Sunday, I’m going to allow myself to rest a bit, recharge my batteries, and get my mind ready to tackle the pending tasks on Monday—and to be honest, I have quite a few of them. The break was necessary; my body and mind had been asking for it for days. This week, work demanded a lot of time, concentration, and effort, though I must admit that Saturday, by the end of the day, turned out to be a bit easier and more manageable.
We got up early to take advantage of the cool morning hours. Since we had left one of the plant’s batteries running, there were still a few left to check. On every trip, the landscape always shows us its best side: mountains that seem to wake up early with us, a clear sky promising a bright and cool day—the kind that makes the journey more pleasant. It’s those little things that make a routine a bit more bearable.

Este domingo, sí me permitiré descansar un poco, recargar energías y preparar la mente para comenzar el lunes con las tareas pendientes, que siendo les honestas bastantes tengo. La pausa era necesaria; el cuerpo y la mente la pedían desde hace días. Esta semana el trabajo demandó mucho tiempo, concentración y esfuerzo, aunque debo reconocer que el sábado, ya al final de la jornada, resultó un poco más suave y llevadero.
Nos levantamos temprano para aprovechar las horas frescas de la mañana. Como habíamos dejado funcionando una batería de la planta, aún quedaban algunos pendientes por revisar. Siempre, en cada recorrido, el paisaje nos regala lo mejor de sí, montañas que parecen despertar temprano con nosotros, el cielo bastante despejado anunciando un día radiante y fresco, de esos qué hace más amable el camino. Esas pequeñas cosas son las que convierten una rutina en algo más llevadero.
When we arrived at the hotel, we went straight to check on the calcium camera, which was due for maintenance. We need to replace some components and make sure everything is working properly to avoid any issues during the event. This kind of work requires patience and concentration to ensure everything is done correctly; when done right, it brings a tremendous sense of satisfaction.
Al llegar al hotel, pasamos directamente a chequear la cámara cálcica, a la cual ya le correspondía mantenimiento. Since we didn’t have any more urgent tasks to complete that day, we decided to call it a day early. We had to go into town to pick up some replacement parts for the filters, because without them we wouldn’t be able to continue with the work scheduled for next week. So the three of us—my husband, our friend Luis, and I—headed into town. The days have been sunny, but also unpredictable; from one moment to the next, it clouds over and a downpour hits. That’s why we preferred that Luis ride with us in the car. Wet pavement isn’t a good combination for a motorcycle, and we all try to be careful to avoid accidents.
Como ya no teníamos más tareas urgentes por completar ese día, decidimos retirarnos temprano. Debíamos ir a la ciudad a buscar algunos repuestos para los filtros, porque sin ellos no podríamos continuar con el trabajo programado para la próxima semana. Así que salimos los tres rumbo a la ciudad; mi esposo, nuestro amigo Luis y yo. Los días han estado radiantes, pero también impredecibles; de un momento a otro se nubla y cae un aguacero. Por eso preferimos que Luis fuera con nosotros en el auto. El pavimento mojado no es buena combinación para la moto, y todos procuramos cuidarnos para evitar accidentes.
We visited several stores in the city. It was at Trompo where we finally managed to find some of the parts we needed. That gave us some peace of mind, because it’s hard to find everything on a Saturday—not all stores are open—and on Sunday, even less so. Finding at least some of what we needed was a relief. Knowing that we’ll be able to move forward without any setbacks next week filled us with satisfaction.
En la ciudad recorrimos varios locales. Fue en el Trompo donde finalmente pudimos encontrar algunos de los repuestos que necesitábamos. Eso nos dio cierta tranquilidad, porque un sábado es complicado conseguir todo: no todos los comercios abren y el domingo, mucho menos. Encontrar al menos una parte de lo necesario ya era un alivio. Saber que la próxima semana podremos avanzar sin contratiempos nos llenó de satisfacción.
With the replacement parts in hand, we headed back home. First, we stopped by La Isla shopping center to end the day on a sweet note with a delicious barquilla, which my husband loves so much.
The afternoon was perfect for relaxing and enjoying the World Cup, which always livens up the atmosphere and gives us a moment of distraction. With our minds now at ease, we got ready to enjoy Sunday as well—a day that this time will truly be a well-deserved rest.
Con los repuestos en mano, emprendimos el camino de regreso a casa. Primero pasamos por el centro comercial La Isla para cerrar la jornada con un tono dulce, con una deliciosa barquilla que tanto le gusta a mi esposo.
La tarde estaba perfecta para relajarse y disfrutar del mundial de fútbol, que siempre anima el ambiente y nos da un rato de distracción. Ya con la mente más tranquila, nos preparamos para disfrutar también del domingo, un día que esta vez sí será de descanso merecido.
Sometimes, with so many responsibilities, we forget how important it is to pause for a moment, take a breath, and give thanks. This weekend reminded me of that: even in the midst of work, there’s always room to appreciate small achievements, good companions on the journey, and the peace of mind that comes from coming home with the satisfaction of a job well done.

A veces, entre tantas responsabilidades, uno olvida lo importante que es detenerse un momento, respirar y agradecer.
