[ENG/ESP] A Monday filled with work, scenery, and tasks completed.
I hope you have a great week, filled with good times and little joys that make these days more bearable. Although many of you are enjoying your Easter break, we have to keep working and fulfilling our responsibilities as always. With all the traffic and the crowds of tourists and vacationers who’ve arrived on the island, sometimes you just want to stay home and not go out at all. But duty is duty, and when it’s time to work, it’s time to work.
Yesterday we got up very early to start our work routine at the Sunsol Unik hotel. The weather was typical for the island: intense heat accompanied by a relentless sun—the kind that forces you to seek shade but, at the same time, provides perfect light for taking beautiful photos of the landscape. Along the way, as we chatted and admired the scenery and the mountains in the distance, the journey became even more beautiful and enjoyable.
Les deseo una semana genial, llena de buenos momentos y de pequeñas alegrías que hagan más llevaderos estos días. Aunque muchos están disfrutando de sus vacaciones por la Semana Santa, a nosotros nos toca seguir trabajando, cumpliendo con nuestras responsabilidades como siempre. Y es que, con el tráfico y la cantidad de turistas y temporadistas que han llegado a la Isla, a veces dan ganas de quedarse en casa y no salir para nada. Pero el deber es el deber, y cuando toca, toca.
Ayer nos levantamos muy temprano para comenzar nuestra rutina de trabajo en el hotel Sunsol Unik. El clima estaba como suele estar en la Isla; un calor intenso acompañado de un sol implacable, de esos que te obligan a buscar sombra pero que, al mismo tiempo, regalan una luz perfecta para tomar fotografías hermosas del paisaje. En el camino, mientras conversábamos y admiramos los paisajes, las montañas a lo lejos, el trayecto se hizo más hermoso y agradable.
When we arrived at the hotel, the quality control technician was waiting for us to perform our routine inspection, cleaning, and disinfection. However, since the hotel was quite busy, we had to wait a while before we could begin. The maintenance manager had all the keys to the premises and was busy handling several requests at the same time. So we had to arm ourselves with patience, take a deep breath, and use the moment to observe the hustle and bustle of the place, listen to the guests’ conversations, and soak in that vibrant atmosphere that forms when a hotel is full.
Finally, we were able to start our work, and to our delight, all the readings came back excellent. That filled us with satisfaction, because when there are so many guests staying, any little detail can become a complication. Knowing that everything was in order gave us a sense of relief and pride in a job well done. With that good news, we said goodbye to the hotel staff and moved on to the second mission of the day: finding motor oil for our car.
Al llegar al hotel, nos estaba esperando el técnico de control de calidad, para realizar nuestra rutina de control, coloración y desinfección. Sin embargo, como el hotel tenía una ocupación bastante alta, tuvimos que esperar un rato antes de comenzar. El gerente de mantenimiento tenía todas las llaves de los locales y estaba ocupado atendiendo varias solicitudes al mismo tiempo. Así que nos tocó armarnos de paciencia, respirar profundo y aprovechar el momento para observar el movimiento del lugar, escuchar las conversaciones de los huéspedes y sentir ese ambiente vibrante que se forma cuando un hotel está lleno.
Finalmente, pudimos iniciar nuestro trabajo y, para nuestra alegría, todos los valores salieron excelentes. Eso nos llenó de satisfacción, porque cuando hay tanta gente hospedada, cualquier detalle puede complicarse. Saber que todo estaba en orden nos dio una sensación de alivio y orgullo por el trabajo bien hecho. Con esa buena noticia, nos despedimos del personal del hotel y seguimos con la segunda misión del día; encontrar aceite automotriz para nuestro carro.
We set out on a rather long search, asking around here and there, until someone finally recommended a place called “Lubrifiltros Contreras,” located on 31 de Julio Avenue, near the Guacuco intersection. There, luckily, we found exactly what we needed: 20W-50 sealed motor oil and the corresponding filter. It was a huge relief, because these days, with so much going on, it’s not always easy to find what you’re looking for.
Comenzamos un recorrido bastante largo, preguntando aquí y allá, hasta que finalmente nos recomendaron un lugar llamado “Lubrifiltros Contreras”, ubicado en la avenida 31 de Julio, cerca del crucero de Guacuco. Allí, por suerte, conseguimos exactamente lo que necesitábamos; el aceite sellado 20w-50 y el filtro correspondiente. Fue un alivio enorme, porque en estos días de tanto movimiento no siempre es fácil encontrar lo que uno busca.
Happy to have sorted everything out, we headed back home. The thing is, during Holy Week, the later it gets in the afternoon, the heavier the traffic becomes. It’s best to arrive early to avoid unnecessary traffic jams.

Contentos por haber resuelto todo, emprendimos el regreso a casa. Y es que, en Semana Santa, mientras más avanza la tarde, más pesado se pone el tráfico. Lo mejor es llegar temprano, evitar colas innecesarias.

Encontraste oro líquido! Se lo que se siente cuando encuentras el aceite exacto, pues cuando vivía en Venezuela era un peregrinaje para encontrarlo, y aunque la lógica te dice que compres uno extra para reservar, las finanzas no siempre ayudan, pero lo bueno es resolver y sobre todo antes de que vengan los días feriados.
La verdad que consegir el aceite automotriz es una victoria en medio del caos.
En Venezuela es todo un peregrinaje, entre precios, escasez de algunas marcas y feriados, uno hacía magia para resolver.
Por eso estoy feliz ahora hay que tratar de tener en reserva.
