Happy Saturday. The weekend is officially here, even though I have to work—and yet this day has its own charm, that special feeling you get when you know the week is about to end. I hope you’re enjoying it too, each in your own way—taking it easy, spending time with family, or simply getting some well-deserved rest. Later on, I’ll tell you how my Saturday went—it’ll be my last day of work this week, and it promises to be intense but necessary.
Today I want to tell you about how our Friday went—a day that wasn’t about repairs or installations, but about searching, exploring, and patience. Sometimes the work begins long before you even pick up a tool; it starts on the street, searching for the right materials, on those errands that seem simple but end up taking up the whole day.
On Friday, we had a clear mission: to gather everything needed to repair a water tank with several holes. The cause of that damage is curious and, in a way, inevitable. Near the tank, someone planted a mango tree that grew strong and sturdy, with roots that spread without asking permission, seeking nourishment and space. Over time, those roots reached the tank’s structure and punctured several holes that we must now repair.
Not just any material will do for this type of repair. You need high-strength, water-repellent materials—products you can’t find at just any hardware store, which means you have to visit several different places. Friday dawned sunny, but a cool breeze was blowing, making the weather more bearable and less stifling. That detail, though small, was a relief on a day that promised to be long.

At Ingeniería de Piache, we managed to obtain some of the materials, which was already a significant step forward. However, we were still missing the adhesive, the gray cement, and the pre-test.

A friend of my husband's, who works at the Parque Costa Azul shopping center, told us they had the pre-check there at a good price. So, without a second thought, we headed over there. When we finally had it in our hands, we felt like the day was starting to come together.

Then we continued our search for gray cement. But it was Friday, and you know how things work on the island—some local shops close at noon, and by then it was already around 3:30. Even so, we kept at it, walking the streets, asking around, and going into every hardware store we found that was open. Finally, at one of them, we found the gray cement and the pipe we also needed. That feeling of relief when you finally gather everything you need is indescribable, as if an invisible weight were lifted from your body.

Happy and satisfied that we’d managed to gather all the materials, we went home to rest and get ready for this Saturday, which will undoubtedly be a hard day’s work. But that’s our routine: days of searching, days of repairs, days of rest—all part of this life we lead with dedication and perseverance.
I’ll see you very soon in another one of my posts, where I’ll share another little glimpse into our daily lives.
See you soon.
Bye.
Chao.
