In this post I will share my experience while taking an afternoon walk around the outskirts of Kuala Simpang, the main purpose of this trip is to see the differences and changes in the face of Aceh Tamiang after the flood about 51 days ago. Even though I live in Aceh Tamiang, I very rarely go to Kuala simpang city, not without reason, the dust on the road is very thick and makes me have to be ready to get sick after returning home.
In this post, I will also share some photos showing the views of the tourist area around the Regent's office before and after the flood. Many changes have occurred, but I hope this is the beginning of a better change.

It's quite a pity to see the expanse of rice fields in front of my house that are already filled with mud, the mud looks like it has dried up and on top of it is already overgrown with wild grass that looks so refreshing. I think this will be a tough start for farmers who want to plant rice in their fields, the dried mud will definitely become liquid and slippery when it is exposed to rainwater, I don't know what the first step will be taken by the farmers.

I started my journey at 3:00 p.m., the weather was quite hot, making the road very dusty, making me think twice before embarking on this journey. As I expected, as soon as I arrive out onto the highway, I was greeted by a thick layer of dust.

On the highway we can see very thick dust, even though today is the 51st day after the flood. This dust is caused by thick mud, this mud is a dilemma because when it dries this mud will cause very severe dust, but when it rains this dust will become slippery so it will be very dangerous for drivers on the highway, I don't know when this dust problem will end.
And now let's see the difference in the tourist area around the regent's office before the flood and after the flood. Oh yes, I took photo before flood in this my post a few weeks ago and you can see it Here

And this is the entrance gate to the Aceh Tamiang Regency government office complex. We can see from the photo above that before the flood, the view still looked so beautiful and looked so fresh and I took the photo several months ago.But look at the photo after the flood, many buildings have changed color and dust is almost everywhere.

And this is the DPRK building of Aceh Tamiang Regency, we can see the yard of this building which is very clean and green because it is covered with lush grass, and decorated with colorful plants and flowers, but look at the comparison with the photo after the flood, the view looks very different even the grass which was originally green has now turned brown and I don't see any flowers there.

It's really worrying, this flood disaster has changed everything, honestly I really hate dust because it will make me sick after that. This view is quite worrying and we can see it from some of the comparison photos above, and what's even more worrying is that until now I still find a lot of refugee tents built in almost every area which indicates that until now there are still refugees who have not returned home, the question is how will they return home when their homes are gone and some have even lost the land where they live.
The good news is that all aid and all the necessary equipment and supplies have been provided, road access has returned to normal, construction has been carried out, and this is the beginning of change for the better.

You can imagine for yourself how changes have occurred after the flood, from the two photos above you can see very different views.

I couldn't stand the dust, especially since I forgot to bring a mask, so I didn't stay there long. After buying everything I needed, I immediately rushed back home. Along the way, I also found many refugee tents that are still standing today. Hopefully, everything will recover quickly and return to normal as before.

Semoga cepat kembali kesedia kala om. semangat selalu.
Flood damage is very difficult to recover and recovery takes time as the photos you shared can only be understood by those who have faced this situation.

Thank you for sharing this walk and your honest feelings. I can feel how hard it is to see your place change after the flood. The dust, the muddy roads, and the empty fields sound very difficult, especially for the farmers and families who lost their homes.
Despite the slow pace of the recovery process, it's good to know that those affected have received help. Hopefully, efforts and aid will be strengthened, and the recovery will become more noticeable soon.
