My time in Paraguay was undoubtedly a very wise decision within my latest trip as a backpacker. I really enjoyed being able to visit a neighboring country and meet people along the way, as well as having many new stories to tell. My travel itinerary was going exactly as planned, and it was finally time to return to my country Argentina, but not to go home, rather to continue on to my last remaining stop 😃.

Mi paso por Paraguay fue sin dudas una decisión muy acertada dentro de mi último viaje como mochilera. Disfruté mucho de poder visitar el país vecino y conocer gente en el camino, además de tener muchas anécdotas nuevas para contar. Mi cronograma de viaje se estaba cumpliendo al pie de la letra, y finalmente llegaba el momento de volver a mi país Argentina. Pero no para ir a casa, sino para seguir con la ultima parada que me quedaba 😃.

Up to that point, the hostel in Paraguay was the cheapest one I had stayed at during all my travels. For a bed in a 12-person dorm, I paid less than $4. The place wasn’t very luxurious, but it served its purpose of giving me a place to sleep. Also, since I saved quite a bit on accommodation, my budget balanced out and I was able to try a lot of local food (although, ironically, I didn’t manage to try “sopa paraguaya,” and the closest I got was “chipa guazú”).

Hasta el momento, el hostel de Paraguay fue el más económico que visité durante todos mis viajes. Por una cama en una habitación de 12 personas, pagué menos de $4. Este lugar no era tan lujoso, pero cumplió su función de tener un lugar donde dormir. Además, como ahorré bastante en hospedaje, mi presupuesto se equilibró y pude probar bastante gastronomía local (aunque irónicamente no logré comer una "Sopa Paraguaya" y lo más cerca a esto fue el "Chipa Guazú").

During my time in Asunción, I managed to do a lot of great things, like visiting the hidden bar, having a beer at an elegant rooftop, walking through the streets of the historic center, and even going to Areguá, a town a bit farther than I had planned. The best part of all this was finding people who joined me along the way, sharing the same passion for exploring and having stories to tell afterward.

Durante mi recorrido por Asunción, logré hacer un montón de cosas geniales, como visitar el bar oculto, tomar una cerveza en el Roof Top elegante, recorrer las calles del casco histórico, y hasta ir a Areguá, una ciudad un poco más allá de lo que pensaba. Lo mejor de esto fue haber conseguido gente que me acompañó en el camino, compartiendo el mismo gusto por explorar y tener historias para contar luego.

I didn’t want to leave Paraguay without leaving my Worldmappin sticker somewhere. Unfortunately, I forgot about it during the most beautiful outings, but at least I remembered on my last morning before leaving. I’m not sure it was the best spot to put it, but I found a pole outside the hostel and left the little one there. One more small mark in this part of the world ❤️.

No quería irme de Paraguay sin antes dejar mi sticker de Worldmappin en algún lugar. Lamentablemente, en los paseos más hermosos me lo olvidé, pero al menos lo recordé la última mañana antes de irme. No sé si fue el mejor espacio para ponerlo, pero encontré un poste afuera del hostel y ahí se quedó el pequeñito. Una huellita más en esta parte del mundo ❤️.

Goodbyes are always emotional, and this was no exception. More than anything, I said goodbye to my friend Noe, whom I already knew from previous travels. She was planning to keep traveling a bit further north in the following days, while I was going to slowly begin my journey back to Buenos Aires. The good thing about having traveled to many places is that you always end up with a friend somewhere—and the best part is that there’s always the possibility of meeting again.

Las despedidas siempre son emotivas, y esta no fue la excepción. Más que nada, me despedí de mi amiga Noe, a quien ya conocía de viajes anteriores. Ella tenía planeado seguir viajando un poco más al norte en los siguientes días, mientras yo iba a emprender de a poco mi regreso a Buenos Aires. Lo bueno de haber viajado por muchos lugares es que siempre te queda un amigo por ahí, y lo mejor es que siempre existe la posibilidad de reencontrarse.

I left Asunción on a Monday morning to catch a bus that would take me back to Argentina. The nostalgia of saying goodbye was gradually replaced by the excitement of my final stop, where I would finally visit the province of Corrientes—the last one I needed to complete my goal of seeing all 23 provinces of Argentina. This part of the trip was also very special, because Luis and Gabi, some friends from Hive, were waiting for me there. They kindly hosted me in their home and showed me around the city.

Me fui de Asunción un lunes por la mañana, para tomar un bus que me devolvería a Argentina. La nostalgia de la despedida fue de a poco siendo reemplazada por la emoción de la última parada, en donde finalmente conocería la provincia de Corrientes, la que me quedaba para completar mi objetivo viajero de ver las 23 provincias de Argentina. Este punto del viaje también fue muy especial, porque ahí me esperaban Luis (@jlufer) y Gabi, su esposa, unos amigos de Hive que amablemente me hospedarían en su casa y me harían conocer la ciudad.

My planned stay in Corrientes was about three days, before I had to return home to be present for my mom’s birthday. During those days, Luis, Gabi, and I explored as much as we could, and they kindly gave me some wonderful guided tours. One of the places we visited in the city of Corrientes was the Natural Sciences Museum, which is always so interesting. The nice thing about exploring with other Hivers was that we were all taking photos for our blogs 😂.

Mi estadía programada en Corrientes era de unos tres días, antes de tener que volver a mi casa para estar presente en el cumpleaños de mi mamá. En esos días, Luis, Gabi y yo paseamos todo lo que pudimos y amablemente me dieron unos tours guiados hermosos. Uno de los lugares que visitamos en la ciudad de Corrientes fue el Museo de Ciencias Naturales, que siempre resultan tan interesantes. Lo bueno de pasear con otros hivers era que todos íbamos sacando fotos para nuestros blogs 😂.

Visiting the city of Corrientes was something I had wanted to do for a long time, and I was happy to have friends there who welcomed me so warmly. I think I’m very lucky to have had so many people support me during my travels, helping me gradually achieve my dream of traveling. The days we spent exploring together became very beautiful memories, and I’ll always be grateful for that opportunity. Corrientes is more beautiful than I expected, and I was just beginning to get to know it ❤️.

Visitar la ciudad de Corrientes era algo que quería hacer hace mucho y me alegré de tener a unos amigos ahí que me recibieron con mucha calidez. Pienso que soy muy afortunada por haber tenido a mucha gente que me apoyó durante los viajes que hice, ayudándome a cumplir mi sueño viajero de a poco. Los días que pasamos paseando juntos me quedaron como unos recuerdos muy lindos y siempre voy a estar agradecida por esa oportunidad. Corrientes es más linda de lo que pensaba y apenas empezaba a conocerla ❤️.
