My vacation with my dad had a bit of everything: outdoor activities, some cycling, nature, walks around the city, and even nights out. It was a very intense week in which we managed to do all kinds of things, and although we didn’t get much rest, it was worth spending every minute exploring somewhere new. I’d say we ate a lot, walked a lot, and enjoyed ourselves a lot too. Since we were in the area of the triple border between Argentina, Brazil, and Paraguay, of course we had to take a little trip to see something of all three countries, and that’s exactly what we did 😃.

One thing I definitely didn’t expect to do during our stay in Foz do Iguaçu, Brazil, was go out at night. Having dinner with my dad was great, but he’s someone who tends to go to bed fairly early. I, on the other hand, because of my current job, where I finish my shift around midnight, have a somewhat unusual sleep schedule and can still stay up a little longer. Even though this was a family vacation, I didn’t miss the opportunity to use my always-reliable travel app, Couchsurfing, where I found a great group of people to go dancing with after dinner. As you know, I enjoy cultural exchanges, and luckily, I got to experience them on this trip as well.

Despite having gone out partying the night before, I got up very early the next day because my dad and I wanted to visit Ciudad del Este, Paraguay. This is the city next to Foz do Iguaçu and Puerto Iguazú, so getting there took us less than an hour, including the border crossing. We weren’t asked for any kind of documentation to enter the city, which seemed strange to me at first, but I later understood that this is a city known for spontaneous shopping trips, and many people cross the border just for that. Ciudad del Este is famous for its shopping malls with affordable prices, especially when it comes to electronics, so it can be a good option to save some money if you have something specific in mind.
Of course, changing my phone or getting another computer wasn’t part of my plans, so our “shopping tour” was limited to walking around the malls for a while amid all the chaos. As a souvenir from Ciudad del Este, I bought a warm winter jacket that cost me just $20 and a $10 swimsuit to use during the vacation. Since I knew it would be hot during our stay, I had chosen a hotel with a pool, which I used every chance I got.

Experiencing the nightlife of Foz do Iguaçu, both at restaurants and bars, and exploring a bit of Ciudad del Este, the shopping city, were the perfect activities to complement our visit to the Iguazú Falls area. I liked knowing that we had more things to do besides visiting the parks, which are beautiful in their own right, and having a whole week to explore everything was great. Every trip is different, and even though this was my third time traveling to this area, my dad and I did many more things than I did on my first two visits. I could say that I know this place much better now, and honestly, it was worth coming back 😃.

That is such a cool way to see the triple border. It is impressive you still found the energy to go out dancing after a full day of travel with your dad.
Hahaha sometimes I don't know how I can do that much 😅
