A SUNSET in my country town (en/es)

ENGLISH VERSIÓN

My eyes got used to your red sunsets
like the bend in the road.

Joan Manuel Serrat

Joan Manuel Serrat

For me, that verse of the song "Mediterráneo", by the Catalan singer-songwriter, has created a very romantic and spiritual image for me.

At first, I had a generalized perception of the metaphor, but then I understood, or realized that really not all sunsets are red. They come in different colors and shades, depending on the climate and seasons of the year, as well as geography.

But, anyway, those three verses penetrated deeply into my feelings and emotions.
Perhaps this is also given by my artistic sensitivity as a painter and by a small poetic streak that always accompanies me.

Of course, I also understand that, metaphorically, these verses of the song are the personal perception of the poet, who surely saw many of those sunsets on the Mediterranean coast. In addition to the fact that they can also be directed at something else indirectly.

The fact is that, every time I see sunsets here in my little town more or less of that type, the alarm of feelings awakens the romantic inside me.

Today has been one of those days in which the sunset, in addition, was combined with residual clouds from a failed rain attempt in the northern part of the town, creating some light filters on the walls of the houses and the pavement, which also reminded me of some European paintings and our Esteban Chartrand in the Cuban 19th century.

This afternoon I left home to do some domestic work at the other end of the town and, upon returning, I noticed a different atmosphere in the city environment, where the main protagonist was the light that was reflected on the walls and colonnades of the high-strut colonial-type homes. I was interested in doing a photographic report as I moved towards and within the urban area.

The atmosphere was charming, a bit sweet, and I took as the center of the photographic discourse the church or parish of San Joaquín, on the north side of Real Street, in the same mathematical center of the population settlement.

Thus, I made a journey from north to south, taking photos, entranced by the mystical panorama that, like ancient paintings, was revealed to me with every step I took. gave.

There I also realized how beautiful my small country town is when the weather breaks the routine of seeing it in the strident light of the sun.

After I saw the photo report when I got home, I was quite satisfied with the images I captured with my cell phone and decided to leave most of them untouched to improve them. This is how they were born and this is how I offer them to you.

This really was not a sunset as red as the one in Serrat, and I can't get used to it either, because it is unrepeatable. But it's one of my sunsets.

Thank you for joining me!

VERSIÓN EN ESPAÑO

A tus atardeceres rojos
se acostumbraron mis ojos
como el recodo al camino

Joan Manuel Serrat
