It is undoubtedly a beautiful experience that you cannot miss; it is something you need to do once in your life if you are a nature lover, because it is beautiful, and you can witness one of nature's wonders up close, which is metamorphosis.

• El día de hoy quiero compartirles mi experiencia visitando por primera vez un mariposario y todo lo que podemos observar, interactuar, conocer y aprender en este lugar. Sin duda es una experiencia hermosa que no te puedes perder; es algo que una vez en tu vida necesitas hacer si eres amante de la naturaleza, porque es algo hermoso, además de que puedes presenciar de cerca una de las maravillas de la naturaleza, que es la metamorfosis.

• First, let's talk about where we can find this butterfly garden in Lisbon, Portugal. Specifically, to visit this beautiful place, you have to go to Cascais, Carcavelos. From the capital, you can take a train from Cais do Sodré to Cascais and get off at Carcavelos station. From there, you'll have to walk about 15-20 minutes to the Quinta da Rana Urban Park. Not only does this place offer the chance to observe some of the butterfly species in Portugal, but you can also enjoy a beautiful walk in the park and see the ancient ruins of an old aqueduct.

• Primero vamos a hablar de dónde podemos encontrar este mariposario en Lisboa, Portugal. Específicamente, para visitar este hermoso lugar, tienes que ir a Cascais, Carcavelos. Desde la capital puedes coger un tren que sale en Cais do Sodré, sentido Cascais, y parar en la estación de Carcavelos; después tendrás que caminar alrededor de 15-20 minutos hasta el Parque Urbano da Quinta de Rana. No solo este lugar ofrece observar algunas de las especies de mariposas en Portugal, sino que también puedes disfrutar de una hermosa caminata en el parque y observar unas antiguas ruinas de un antiguo acueducto.

• This butterfly garden is divided into two parts: the first part consists of exhibits with information about the different species of butterflies in Portugal, their sizes, and their habitats; the other part is very interesting, where you can observe the egg, larva, and cocoon stages. At this point, I managed to find several eggs, cocoons, and larvae. This place is completely free, and its founder was Joao Pedro Cardoso, a lover of the countryside who lived in the area and even wrote a book identifying the species or those that have been identified, since the process of identifying these insects is very complex. The latest addition to Portugal is the beautiful monarch butterfly, which is very famous internationally, as this beautiful butterfly originates from America and, surprisingly, settled in Portugal. The guide explained to us that butterflies settle if they find the right plant and temperatures, and this animal will live without any problems. When it was found, this tourist identified that the plant where it feeds in its larval stage is found in Portugal, so after conducting a study to ensure that this beautiful visitor would not affect the ecosystem, it was allowed to settle in the country without any problems. At this time of year, we are unable to observe many species; it is only in spring that we can see a large number of butterflies, which is when they are born. However, in this part of the park, there were two species, several monarchs and the butterfly of the walls or stained.

• Monarch butterfly. We already know that its original habitat is on the American continent. The female and male are usually identified by their different colors; the male is bright orange and the female is more muted, with a yellowish hue. They tend to have a long lifespan; unlike other species that usually have an estimated lifespan of about one month, the monarch lives for nine months, so it's not just their colors that are impressive about these animals, but also their size. Unlike other species, monarchs are usually noticeable from a distance due to their bright color and size of 9 to 10 centimeters, depending on sex; in general, males tend to be larger. Another interesting fact about this species is that it is migratory, traveling from the United States to Canada and Mexico due to temperature differences; this advantage is possible due to their lifespan.

• Este mariposario está dividido en dos partes; la primera son exhibiciones con informaciones de las distintas especies de mariposas en Portugal, sus tamaños, su hábitat, y otra parte que es muy interesante, donde podrás observar la fase de huevo, larva y capullo; a esta altura logré encontrarme varios huevos, capullos y larvas. Este lugar es completamente gratuito y su fundador fue Joao Pedro Cardoso que era un amante del campo que vivia en la zona y incluso escribio un libro donde fueron identificadas las especies o las que han logrado identificar, ya que el proceso de identificacion de estos insectos es muy complejo, la ultima actualizacion que recibio Portugal es la hermosa Monarca que es muy famosa internacionalmente ya que el origen de esta preciosa mariposa es de America y sorprendentemente se asentuaron en Portugal, el guia nos explico que las mariposas se asentuan si se encuentra la planta y las temperaturas adecuadas este animal vivira sin problemas, cuando fue encontrada esta turista fue identificado que la planta donde se alimenta en su fase larva se encuentra en Portugal asi que al hacer un estudio que este hermoso visitante no afectara el ecosistema fue permitido que se asentuara en el pais sin ningun problema. Muchas especies a esta altura del año no logramos observarlas; solo en primavera es que podemos ver una gran cantidad de mariposas, que es cuando nacen. Sin embargo, en la parte del parque se encontraban dos especies, varias monarcas y la mariposa de los muros o maculada.

• Monarca. Ya sabemos que su hábitat original es en el continente de América. La hembra y el macho suelen identificarse por su color distinto; el macho tiene un color anaranjado fuerte y la hembra más apagado, con tonalidad cerca del amarillo. Su tiempo de vida suele ser extenso; a diferencia de otras especies que suelen tener un estimado cerca de un mes de vida, la monarca vive 9 meses, así que no solo sus colores son lo impresionante de estos animales, también el tamaño. A diferencia de otras especies, las monarcas suelen hacerse notar a lo lejos con su color vivo y un tamaño de 9 y 10 centímetros, dependiendo del sexo; en lo general, el macho suele ser más grande. Otro de los datos más interesantes de esta especie es que es una especie migratoria que sale de Estados Unidos a Canadá y México debido a las temperaturas; esa ventaja puede tenerla debido a su tiempo de vida.

• Wall butterfly. The other species I managed to observe was this little one, which honestly gave me a hard time photographing it because it didn't stay in one place for long and flew away as soon as you got close, But with a lot of patience, this beauty, which usually lives in wooded areas, has more muted, dark colors and brown tones, but that's because it's a nocturnal butterfly. One of the curiosities of this species is that they tend to be very territorial and are not afraid to attack, so you can imagine the parties they have during the breeding season.

• One of my favorite photos of the day is when, at midday, both butterflies approached us and we could see the difference in size and color between the monarch and the wall butterfly. • Mariposa de los muros. La otra especie que logré observar fue esta pequeña que, honestamente, me dio un trabajo grande en fotografiarla porque no se quedaba en un punto por un largo tiempo, además de que escapaba al momento que te acercabas, pero con mucha paciencia. Esta lindura suele vivir en zonas boscosas, tiene unos colores más apagados, oscuros y tonalidades marrones, pero eso se debe a que es una mariposa nocturna. Una de las curiosidades de esta especie es que suelen ser muy territoriales; no tienen miedo a atacar, así que te puedes imaginar las fiestas que hacen en la época de reproducciones.

• Una de mis fotos favoritas del día es que en una altura del día ambas mariposas se acercaron y podemos observar la diferencia de tamaño y colores de la monarca y la mariposa de los muros; es sorprendente el tamaño de ambas.
