My visit to El Rincón, a beautiful mountain village in the Benítez municipality - Sucre (Eng - Esp)
Greetings and blessings to all my nature-loving friends! It's a pleasure to share my visit to a beautiful town in the state of Sucre known as El Rincón. Located in the Benítez municipality on the Pan-American Highway that connects it to the Bermúdez municipality, it's a mountain town with stunning views and a predominantly agricultural focus. The most abundant crops in this area are cacao, bananas, plantains, corn, squash, taro, and more. At the entrance to the town, there's a small bridge and a beautiful, colorful mural that welcomes visitors to this charming place. Beyond the bridge, there's a long wall covered with Bougainvillea Bougainvillea spectabilis and various fruit trees. Next comes Bolívar Square, the church, and the streets, which are my favorites because they offer a view of the beautiful mountains at the end. Interestingly, the roads are made of concrete and adorned with caico trees. From the moment I visited this town, I loved the mountain views, the abundance of vegetation, and the fact that most houses have gardens or lawns surrounding them.
On the day of my visit, the sky was clear with a few clouds, the temperature was pleasant, and the sun's rays weren't too strong, which allowed me to take a walk through the main streets of this beautiful town. These places are definitely among my favorites because they are perfect for enjoying nature, observing beautiful landscapes, and the large mountain that surrounds these streets, giving them a rustic and welcoming feel. The evergreen mountain is located in the background, and as I mentioned at the beginning, most of the houses have fruit and ornamental trees.
Saludos y bendiciones amigos amantes de la naturaleza, es un placer compartir mi visita a un hermoso pueblo del estado Sucre conocido como El Rincón, el cual se ubica en el municipio Benítez en la carretera Panamericana que conecta al mencionado municipio, con el municipio Bermúdez, es un pueblo de montaña con hermosas vistas y mayormente de vocación agrícola, los cultivos que más abundan en esta zona son el cacao, cambur, plátano maíz , auyama , ocumo chino y más, en la entrada del pueblo se ubica un pequeño puente y un mural muy hermoso y colorido que da la bienvenida a este encantador lugar, luego de pasar el hay una larga pared con varias plantas de Bugambilia Bougainvillea spectabilis varios frutales, a continuación la plaza Bolívar, la iglesia y las calles que son mis favoritas, porque al final se observa la hermosa montaña, algo curioso es que las carreteras son de concreto y están adornadas con caico; desde que pasé por este pueblo me gustó la vista de la montaña, la abundancia de vegetación y en la mayoría de las casas hay jardines o gramas alrededor.
El día de mi visita el cielo estaba despejado y con pocas nubes, la temperatura agradable, los rayos del sol no eran tan fuertes, lo cual me permitió hacer una caminata por las principales calles de este hermoso pueblo, definitivamente estos lugares son de mis favoritos porque son perfectos para disfrutar el contacto con la naturaleza, observar lindos paisajes y la gran montaña que rodea estas calles dándole un estilo campestre y acogedor, la montaña siempre verde se ubica al fondo y como lo mencioné al principio en la mayoría de las casas hay árboles frutales y ornamentales.
During my walk, the sky clouded over a bit; it looked like it was going to rain, but I kept going and admiring this beautiful and charming place in the Benítez municipality. The streets are long and end with a beautiful mountain view, and there are also palm trees and large trees.
After walking along several streets, I walked down the main avenue, which leads to other towns. Along the way, I saw the mountain again and a path alongside the road with abundant vegetation on both sides. There was a bridge over a small river that regularly swells during the rainy season. Along the way, I saw several bridges with the same design and color.
Durante Mi recorrido, el cielo se nubló un poco parecía que iba a llover, pero igual seguí avanzando y observando este hermoso y encantador lugar del municipio Benítez, las calles son largas y terminan con una hermosa vista de la montaña, también hay palmeras y grandes árboles.
Luego de recorrer varias calles,caminé por la avenida principal, que conduce hacia otros pueblos, en el camino se observa la montaña nuevamente y un sendero en la carretera con abundante vegetación a ambos lados, un puente por donde pasa un pequeño río que regularmente incrementa su caudal en temporada de lluvia, en el trayecto pude ver varios puentes con el mismo diseño y color.
As I walked along, I stopped to observe a tree that caught my attention because of the number of branches, roots, and even other plants growing on it. According to information I found, it's known as the Strangler Fig Ficus aurea. This is because these plants germinate on another known host tree, trapping it and occasionally killing it. These plants begin their lives as aerial plants and develop multiple hanging roots, which, upon touching the ground, take root, forming strange structures that complement each other, giving life to other plants that grow there. It's a relationship of mutualism and parasitism where there are benefits and sacrifices, as seen in the photo.
Taking this photograph was a bit complicated because of the height of the tree. I got as close as I could and tried to center the image to capture this curious plant with long, spiny leaves that grows on the branches of the strangler fig. Observing the trunk, you can see several branches covering it, and other plants grow on top of them. Looking in detail, on some of the branches you can see again the spiny plants that are observed on the higher branches. The stems and branches are of different thickness and color, and other plants like vines grow around them. I had seen this tree before, but this was the largest I'd ever seen. Without exaggeration, I think it's between 12 and 15 meters tall, and its branches spread widely across the ground, covering an area of approximately 6 meters. After taking pictures of the tree, I continued my walk along the main road and noticed that it was a constant presence along the highway. Perhaps the climate and the surrounding forest create the right conditions for its growth. As I left the town, I stopped at a cabin that serves as a bus stop. I sat there for about half an hour, observing the beautiful landscape and several hibiscus plants with abundant flowers along the roadside. I spoke with a woman who explained that the hibiscus had so many flowers because of the rains of the previous days. Then I took the bus back home, satisfied and happy to have visited this lovely town. It was a beautiful trip on a day with little sun, a pleasant temperature, and abundant vegetation on both sides of the road.
Mientras avanzaba me detuve a observar un árbol que llamó mi atención por la cantidad de ramas, raíces, incluso otras plantas que crecen en él, según información que conseguí, se le conoce como Higuera Estranguladora Ficus aurea, esto debido a que germinan sobre otro árbol conocido huésped lo atrapa y termina ocasionalmente matándolo, estas plantas comienzan su vida como unas plantas aéreas y desarrollan múltiples raíces colgantes, las cuales al tocar el suelo echan raíces formando estructuras extrañas a la vista, pero que se complementan para dar vida a otras plantas que se desarrollan aquí, es una relación de mutualismo y parasitismo donde hay beneficios y sacrificios; tal como se observa en la foto.
Tomar esta fotografía fue un poco complicado por la altura del árbol me acerqué lo más que pude y traté de centrar la imagen para capturar esta curiosa planta con hojas alargadas y espinosas que crece en las ramas de la Higuera estranguladora, observando el tronco, se aprecian varias ramas que cubren el tronco y encima de ellas crecen otras plantas, viendo en detalle, en algunas de las ramas se ven nuevamente las plantas espinosas que se observan en las ramas altas, los tallos y las ramas son de diferente grosor y color, alrededor crecen otras plantas como enredaderas; había visto este árbol en anteriores ocasiones pero esta ha sido la más grande, sin exagerar creo que mide entre 12 y 15 metros, además sus ramas se extienden ampliamente por el terreno, cubriendo un espacio aproximado de 6 metros, lueego de tomar las fotos a este árbol, continué mi caminata por la vía principal y pude notar que la presencia de este árbol es constante a lo largo de la carretera, tal vez el clima y el bosque crean las condiciones apropiadas para su desarrollo, al salir del pueblo hice una pausa en una cabaña, que funciona como parada de buses, me senté durante aproximadamente durante media hora, observé el hermoso paisaje y varias plantas de Cayena, con abundantes flores al borde de la carretera, conversé con señora quien me explicó que las cayenas tenían esa cantidad de flores por las lluvias de los días anteriores, luego tomé el transporte para regresar a casa, satisfecha y feliz de visitar este lindo pueblo, fue un hermoso recorrido en un día con poco sol, temperatura agradable y abundante vegetación a ambos lados de la carretera.

What a lovely walk through that village! I thought the mural at the start was beautiful, so colourful, welcoming everyone, and then the stroll through the streets, looking at the houses, was so relaxing. I love that the houses have gardens and that nature seems to be bursting out everywhere.
Of course, the most interesting part was that last tree, seeing all those aerial roots and reading all the information about it. It’s a beautiful specimen, and I think I’ve seen some of them around here, or ones very similar. Thank you so much for this detailed tour and for showing us such amazing nature! Big hugs!!🤗

Este pueblo me encantó, desde la entrada ofrece una hermosa vista, las Bugambilias dan una cálida bienvenida a los visitantes al igual que las letras con la identificación, son coloridas y muestran los aspectos culturales socio económicos y bellezas naturales del lugar, la montaña al fondo crea un hermoso paisaje que es de mis favoritos, las casas son también coloridas y con variados diseños que van desde los modernos hasta los clásicos con incidencia del estilo colonial.
Los espacios rodeados de naturaleza me encantan, este pueblo no fue la excepción disfruté el recorrido, observando la vegetación y la hermosa vista.
La Higuera estranguladora, es curiosa por sus grandes ramas y enredaderas que al tocar el suelo echan raíces y se suman a la planta principal crean todo un ensamble donde conviven varias especies, lo he visto antes pero este es mucho más grande y las ramas cubren varios metros del terreno.

I loved this town. From the entrance, it offers a beautiful view. The bougainvillea gives visitors a warm welcome, as do the colorful letters of the town sign, which showcase the cultural, socioeconomic, and natural beauty of the area. The mountain in the background creates a stunning landscape that's one of my favorites. The houses are also colorful and feature a variety of designs, ranging from modern to classic, with a touch of colonial style.
I love spaces surrounded by nature, and this town was no exception. I enjoyed the walk, observing the vegetation and the beautiful view.
The strangler fig is curious because of its large branches and vines that take root when they touch the ground and join the main plant, creating a whole ensemble where several species coexist. I've seen it before, but this one is much larger, and the branches cover several meters of the ground.
