My tour of the La Copita roundabout, an important landmark in the city (Eng - Esp)
Greetings and Happy New Year 2026, my nature-loving friends! May this year be filled with great blessings: love, health, peace, harmony, and happiness. It's the fourth day of January, and I'm still enjoying my son's school vacation. While looking through my phone's gallery, I found several photos from my visit to the La Copita roundabout, located between Gran Mariscal Avenue, Fernández de Zerpa Street, and Sucre Street. During December, my son and I planned a route to visit different places in the city. Our itinerary took us to several points of interest in the capital of Sucre state, including the aforementioned roundabout, which we've seen many times when running errands in this area. But this time, we took a tour to explore and get to know its spaces.
The roundabout has a lovely design; concrete walkways, gardens, benches, and a lower area where the sculpture that gives the roundabout its name is located—a concrete cup with a round base, followed by a kind of vase with colorful lines, a blue cylinder, and at the top another circle, larger than the base, with vertical lines of various colors.
Saludos y feliz año 2026, amigos amantes de la naturaleza, que este año venga cargado de grandes bendiciones: Amor, salud, paz, armonía y felicidad, estamos en el cuarto día del mes de enero, aún aprovechando las vacaciones escolares de mi hijo, revisando la galería del teléfono, encontré varias fotos de mi visita a la redoma la Copita, ubicada entre la avenida Gran Mariscal, Fernández de Zerpa y calle Sucre; durante el mes de diciembre, en compañía de mi hijo, trazamos una ruta para visitar diferentes lugares de la ciudad, nuestro itinerario nos llevó a conocer varios sitios de interés en la capital del estado Sucre, entre ellos la mencionada redoma, la cual hemos visto muchas veces, cuando hacemos diligencias en esta zona, pero en esta ocasión hicimos un recorrido para explorar y conocer sus espacios.
La redoma tiene un lindo diseño; caminerías de concreto, jardines, bancos y un área inferior donde se ubica la escultura que da nombre a la redoma, una copa de concreto, con la base redonda, seguida de una especie de vaso con líneas coloridas, un cilindro azul y en la parte superior otro círculo, más grande que la base, con líneas verticales de variados colores.
The walkways leading to the sculpture are blue and star-shaped. At the top, they have a concrete and terracotta floor, small bridges, gardens, and benches strategically placed near the trees. An important element in this roundabout is the presence of ornamental trees; many of them, the smaller ones, decorate the walkways, and others are located around them to provide shade.
In a more complete view of the roundabout, you can appreciate the shape of the walkways, the colors, and the surrounding gardens. There are also several rocks painted in different colors. The benches are grouped in sets of three per area and are green and red with blue backrests, which are formed by two rectangular walls.
Las caminerías que conducen a la escultura son de color azul y tienen forma de estrella, en la parte de arriba tienen un piso de concreto y terracota, pequeños puentes, jardines y los bancos ubicados estratégicamente cerca de los árboles, un elemento importante en esta redoma es la presencia de árboles ornamentales, muchos de ellos, los más pequeños, decoran las caminerías y otros están ubicados a los alrededores, para dar sombra.
En una vista más completa de la redoma, se aprecia la forma que tienen las caminerías, los colores y los jardines ubicados alrededor, también hay varias rocas pintadas de diferentes, colores los bancos están agrupados en una serie de tres bancos por cada área y tienen los colores verde rojo y el respaldo azul, el cual está integrado por dos muros rectangulares.
The roundabout is an important landmark in the area and stands out for its striking sculpture with colorful lines. The roundabout is green on the outside, and in the center, as I mentioned,are located walkways, hexagonal planters, ornamental trees such as ceibas, grass, and one that I consider the most beautiful, known as the palm Bismarckia nobilis, which has grayish-green leaves that give the impression of a white coating over them.
Our visit to this beautiful roundabout was in the afternoon, and we had the opportunity to sit on the benches, enjoy the cool breeze, observe the plants, and the beautiful view of Gran Mariscal Avenue. Located there is the Delfín Marval Stadium, a busy fast-food area known as "Hunger Street," and several other businesses, including restaurants, grocery stores, hair salons, and schools. It's a very dynamic avenue in terms of economic activity and residential growth. The city hospital, several laboratories, clinics, and other health-related institutions are also very close by. In recent years, this avenue has experienced rapid growth in the construction of commercial establishments. I enjoyed visiting this roundabout, admiring its colorful walkways and benches, and enjoying the cool breeze.
La redoma constituye un importante punto de referencia en la entidad y destaca por su llamativa escultura con líneas coloridas, la redoma es de color verde, en la parte exterior, en el centro como ya lo mencioné, se ubican las caminerías, jardineras con forma hexagonal, árboles ornamentales, como ceibas, grama y una que considero la más bonita conocida como Bismarckia nobilis, que tiene las hojas de color verde grisáceo y da la impresión de una capa blanca que recubre las hojas.
Nuestra visita a esta hermosa redoma, fue en horas de la tarde y tuvimos la oportunidad de sentarnos en los bancos, disfrutar la fresca brisa, observar las plantas y la hermosa vista de la avenida Gran Mariscal, en ella se ubica el estadio Delfín Marval, una venta de comida rápida, muy concurrida y conocida como la calle el Hambre, además varios establecimientos comerciales; restaurantes, ventas de víveres, peluquerías, centros educativos, entre otros, es una avenida muy dinámica en cuanto a las actividades económicas y crecimiento residencial, también muy cerca de ella se encuentra el hospital de la ciudad, varios laboratorios, clínicas e instituciones relacionadas con la salud; en los últimos años esta avenida ha tenido un crecimiento acelerado en cuanto a la construcción de establecimientos comerciales, me gustó visitar esta redoma y conocer sus coloridas caminerías, bancos y disfrutar la fresca brisa.
