Nature is always absolutely marvellous, but when you look up and the sky turns into a sea of flowers, it’s like being surrounded by magic. Nature is magic; it always is.

I never tire of saying how much nature amazes and surprises me, and I always think about how much I still have left to see, and that perhaps there won’t be enough time in this life to do so. There are so many landscapes in the world, so much to explore, that I don’t think even ten lifetimes would be enough, if such a thing were even possible.
But in the city where I live there is a 29 hectare paradise, the historic botanical garden, La Concepción, which I have visited many times but have still not managed to explore in its entirety, and which is, moreover, constantly changing. It belonged to a marquis and his wife during the era of the bourgeoisie, and even back then it was majestic; it even housed a museum with archaeological artefacts, as the marquises invested a great deal of money in these expeditions.
But they also invested in ensuring that this entire natural space contained a wide variety of plants, trees and vegetation in general, sourced from all over the world.

Once a year, an event takes place in that garden, in the last few days of March and the first few days of April, when a gigantic arbour is filled with flowers, and guided tours are even organised for tourists to witness this phenomenon.
I am very familiar with this plant or climbing shrub, the wisteria, because in Argentina I used to see it in many houses; it was mainly used to create arbours or to cover a wall serving as a boundary between two houses.

I remember that Ivo, the man I always mention, who was an expert on plants and looked after the rose garden in the town where I was born, always told me that it was a plant that grew very quickly and became very large; that’s why it can even be considered invasive, and you have to be careful about planting it near the walls of a house, because it can actually lift the foundations or at least damage them. It wasn’t advisable to have them near entrances, for example.
That’s why I used to see them in other parts of a house, in the gardens, but away from the buildings themselves. They are very beautiful ornamental and decorative plants. Their trunks are woody and, generally speaking, the whole plant can grow to a great size, so it’s a sight to behold when they adorn parks and gardens. They can reach a height of 20 metres.
To witness this spectacle, I looked up the flowering season online, which here in the city occurs at the end of March. But I also rang the botanical garden to get reliable information, as the previous year I’d arrived too late and there were very few flowers. They gave me a 15-day window to visit, and it really was spectacular. I saw the flowers in clusters measuring over 10 centimetres, and whilst there are three colour varieties, the ones there are lilac or a soft purple.

Reaching that roundabout full of wisteria flowers and strolling around the area was wonderful. They don’t have much of a scent or fragrance, although there are other varieties that do, and in fact I was able to appreciate that in other plants when I lived in Argentina. But despite that, looking up was as if the sky were made of flowers.
There were lots of people there that day, both locals and tourists from all over, who had come to witness this beauty, which is truly worthy of admiration. What’s more, the area surrounding that part of the garden is absolutely lovely, full of greenery in different shades of green.
I was delighted to be able to go there that day and to have enjoyed, together with my family, just how amazing nature is. Thank you very much for reading my post today; I send you my warmest regards. See you soon.

This is a great garden. It's fantastic that you had the wisteria back in your country, so there's a sense of familiarity. The shade must be wonderful in hot sunny days.
It was truly wonderful to witness this show. The venue had such a fresh atmosphere. Thank you!
