Skatepark Tour - Hood River, OR (USA)

What’s up guys. I was a somewhat active member here many many years ago but have since lost my keys, or rather they’re just in a notebook in a safe 3000 miles away- but anyways I just decided to make a new account.

About three weeks ago I moved outta my apartment in Seattle into a Subaru, and then bought a van a couple of days later. I’m currently just kinda winging it around the Pacific Northwest and considering how many cool parks there are around here I thought I’d share some once in awhile. I nailed down some work earlier this week and decided to take a trip to Hood River, one of my favorite parks I’ve skated around here.

First and foremost, there’s an extensive amount of street parking, a bathroom, and a convenience store that’s within walking distance. The skatepark trifecta.

The far side of this ^ photo comes down from a bike path and the whole thing is a slight down slope so you can really cook coming into the park. There’s a little bowl corner to the right on the way down and to the right of the photo there’s a pretty abrupt bank, a like 6(?) set with a square bar, euro etc. I wish I took more photos; i wasnt planning on making this post this is just what I happened to take anyway.

I guess you can see that here. I didn’t know I took this photo, and I don’t feel like editing the last paragraph lol

The opposite view of the first photo. I swear I’ve see someone crooks that whole dragon ledge on video, but I have no idea where. It’s massive. There’s a little hitching post type square bar going across the flat of that pyramid and then the backside of that bank filters into the downhill side of a super weird and funky snake run.

This bridge is kind of the entrance to the snake run. The thing is fast and it takes a pretty blind corner right in front of the bathroom doors. Im sure someone has gotten smoked coming out of the shitter before

This river gap is right next to the snake run as well. It’s a lot longer than it looks and the run out is super narrow.

The covered section is super sick. It’s really fun to just pump laps around it and then drop into the downhill run, or head into the snake run. I’ve never been here when it’s been raining, but the roof overhangs a decent amount and I bet at least parts of it stay skateable in the rain.

The shallow bowl is super fun, the deep bowl is fucking gnarly. It’s hard to tell from the photo. Im pretty sure the deep end is oververt and it was scary even skating on the deck around it. There was a shitload of debris in there so it was clear it hadn’t been skated in awhile.

Thats all I got for now. I gotta go down the hill to get some van parts in a few days and that town has a really sick brand new park. I’ll take some pics. Hopefully soon I’ll post some clips but things are rough right now haha. I’ve been out of skating for awhile but I’m getting back into it. Progress has been slow.

Happy skating everyone
