This weekend we decided to spend a day in Slovenia in Dežela and after a short meeting we decided to visit Novo Mesto. I have visited Slovenia many times and have many friends in that country, and it used to be part of my country. It is a very beautiful and clean country. Today we headed towards Novo Mesto. At the entrance to the city I noticed that the buildings were low, no more than 3 floors, but the place is fascinating. We entered the new part of the city and headed towards the old part, which is more interesting. We parked in the very center early in the morning and I already noticed that there were buses from neighboring countries, there were plenty of tourists. After a few steps we found ourselves in the old part of the city.Novo Mesto is located next to the Krka River, on the banks of which there are beautiful houses in yellow, white, red, orange colors, a magnificent sight. They are built on the walls of the old town. The water is so calm and the houses are reflected in the water. We crossed the small bridge because we saw a group of tourists who were taking pictures of the city from the neighboring bank. So let's do it too.

We returned to the city. I have never seen such silence anywhere, except for a few passers-by. We reached the square where the city hall and the Cathedral of St. Nicholas are located. We walked along the streets, which were full of people, and admired the beautiful houses. The streets were paved with cobblestones. The Kandijski Bridge, which connects the Old and New Towns and offers one of the most beautiful views of the Krka River, is particularly impressive.

Namely, Novo Mesto is known as the wine capital of Dolenjska and the entire area is planted with vineyards that cover the surrounding hills. The region is known for the Čivek variety, a red wine with a low alcohol content. That's why we spent Saturday afternoon near the city to see the vineyards and, of course, taste the wine.

The day ended with many impressions. On Sunday morning we headed towards the only Slavic town on the water, 20 minutes away. Namely, it is a castle on the Krka River. The large Otočac Stone Castle, which was restored after World War II, and the bridges connecting the island to the mainland, and the spacious parks are ideal for a leisurely walk or picnic by the river. In one part of the castle, a hotel with furniture from the 16th century and such an interior has been opened. We walked through the park and the surroundings. Even though it was June, it was too cold. Later, we returned and set off for Italy.

What a wonderful way to spend a weekend. I really enjoyed seeing the peaceful views of the Krka River and the atmosphere of Otočec Castle. The combination of nature, history, and small-town charm makes this place feel like something out of a storybook. Your photos capture that feeling beautifully and make the reader feel as if they are exploring the area alongside you.
