Finally a draggy second season at first is over, I got to admit I had my doubts even start watching on 4k since colors at times were very dark specially on Silo 17 but Silo’s finale brought everything together after a slow season and its also true that the season ended with some big cliff hangers but it was expected. Season 2 Episode 10, Into the Fire packed as much action and revelations into a single episode as it did to tide us over some of the dragging earlier with things happening in the bag that no one cloud imagine, I did had my suspicion that there were others on Silo 17 but not as something as organize as the kids were. The series gave us an ending that resolved some of the burning questions and puts us on the path for the next two confirmed seasons. The bigger questions remain, who created the Silo? why they were created? and with the AI telling Sims to step out of the Vault and just leave his wife Camille I'm starting to think that is all AI controlled because it falls down to the theory that humans are a dangerous species to anything they find on their way so keep them lock down makes a lot of sense.

Source We start the episode banger with the rebellion in full swing, the Mechanical level putting their plan into action against Bernard and his raiders by trapping them at the bottom levels after he heard and saw them planning to blow up the generator that triggers an order to send all raiders to Mechanical and stop them at all cost, at first it really look like that was the plan. The writers impressed me how they handle several story lines at the same time, from Juliette back to the Silo to Martha / Walker has a brilliant trick to fool Bernard with hand signals. This episode has the tension building steadily until we have some jaw dropping moments that caught me by surprise, I really though for a minute that Walker was that selfish until she gets into Bernard office and drops the countdown, truly dramatic as Bernard said to latter on be true, they fool him all this time using hand signals to communicate while saying a different thing, just keeping him happy pretending she was snitching on Mechanical.

I recently watch Dune a couple of times and got to say Rebecca Ferguson keeps nailing the character of Juliette, this season I saw her more in charge of things, bringing a ideal blend of determent and emotional to her character. Her return to Silo 18 shows the character has grown a lot from the first season now understanding the bigger picture, yes they were all lies but now she knows its not safe to go out and there is a bigger danger. Indeed, Tim Robbins also gives an outstanding performance as Bernard and especially those last moments that his character learns the truth about the Silo system and completely shift his decision to embrace what he believes will be his last moments of freedom, Bernard goes zero to a hundred real quick, from sticking to the Pact no matter what to simply hatting the system, just like it happen to Meadows who always knew more than he thought but for some reason kept shut, this reason most likely fear that the AI would listen or figure out her conversation with Bernard about the poison and just kill everyone, instead she just wanted to go out and find out if it was safe or not, even if that mean her death.

Source Source First big question of this episode, if Bernard survived the airlock incident in that intense finale. It’s a moment keeps me thinking about both their fates, when he and Juliette get trapped in that chamber as flames fill up the room. The show doesn’t tell you what happens to them, but there are some interesting things to think about regarding Bernard’s possible survival.

I'm sure the TV series is not afraid to take liberties with twisting the story on its way to adapt it and make it more entertaining or short to fit it into multiple season. If Bernard survives, this could lead to a redemption, the way Bernard tries to save Juliette from the flames, even though they were confronting each other and were never friends. The way in which he developed as a character from knowing the truth about the Silo system to his final attempts at freedom makes a strong case for keeping him around and probably take over Silo 18 to build up a rebellion that this time not only includes Mechanical.

Bernard discovery of the lie in everything he believed in makes him a master key for this new rebellion I'm thinking about as he is the IT after all, yes he got Sims in charge now but he knows the in and out of the Vault, there are no secrets in the Silo that he doesn't know about, this is a turning point that could bring in the entire Silo together but there is also the known that the conspiracy was real so trusting each other would be hard. It could make for some interesting story lines in the upcoming seasons as this transformation from a die hard believer in the system to someone who truly knows what’s going on.

The season was definitely up and down but this finale really brought the energy back that got me into the show to begin with, some of the episodes felt like they were moving at a snails pace, but the last two episodes, especially episode 10, made the wait worth it. The slow burn approach didn't always help the show in the way, I think they wait too long revealing the kids at Silo 17 and same for getting into the Vault when the meat and potatoes of the season was at Silo 18, kinda making things felt a bit overdrawn and forced.

Source Source The thing that I really like is that the show still manages to expand its world while keeping that focus on characters that we care about. Rebecca Ferguson performance keeps Juliette at the center of the story and remains as the star of the show moving forward although I think Season 3 will be full of flashbacks to the creation of the Silos. It will be full blow revelation about the silo system and every single aspect of it as she comes inside the Silo and start dissecting it from the inside, also the true nature of the Algorithm, so there's a lot to look forward to in the next seasons.

The most interesting thing about the finale is that the Algorithm chose to keep Camille Sims in the vault over her husband Robert and son. This moment tells me a lot about how the Silo power structure operates and about how the Algorithm decides who its leaders will be. This suggests that the Algorithm watched everyone in the Silo, sees Camille political moves even going over her husband and how she manipulates people but mostly because she is a mother and wants the best for her family and understood the game, although how much of the truth will the AI tells them now?.

It also means that the Algorithm prefers a kinda of selfishness, looking out for themself first, and adaptability over blind loyalty? say Camille own interest over Robert?. We’ve seen Camille behind the scenes all season long, pulling strings and managing situations to her favor. Robert has been following orders and keeping his head down, following the rules, but Camille has been paying attention to how power actually works in the Silo.

The ending of the episode had a lot of power moves but what kept me most interested after the ending is the fascinating flashback that seems to explain the origins of the silo system. The scene with the Congressman and journalist Helen in Washington D.C. is our first real look at the world before the Silo, with a "dirty bomb" incident and a suggestion that the truth about what happened to the world might be wildly different from what the Silo residents believe. But perhaps the best part is the way the episode mix its past and present, through the duck Pez dispenser, connecting multiple timelines and implying that the seeds of rebellion have been sown since the beginning. The news about the Safeguard procedure and the poison pipes adds more tension to the already complicated situation in Silo 18.

It’s been a good season to wrap up and Silo remains as one of my favorite TV series of current times, on the next two season we are going to see the origins of the silos adapted and following that we are going to get to explore other characters further like Salvador Quinn? may be. This season had its slow moments, but the finale proved that the show still knows how to give us intense, thought provoking television that had its true jaw dropping moments, continues to make Silo one of the more interesting shows currently running.
