I watched this series, Duty After School, and I messaged one of my sisters who is deeply into drama to recommend it to her because this series is truly worth watching in one’s lifetime. Lol. But that’s the truth, a series I rated 10/10 even when I was just halfway through it. It’s so unfortunate that some movies don’t get the opportunity to be hyped like others and end up remaining hidden.
There were spheres hanging in the air, a bit far from people’s reach. Initially, people waved them off after wondering what could have caused their emergence. However, the world was thrown into chaos when they started falling. Inside them were flying creatures that could not be killed by normal guns or anything at all. They are extremely dangerous because they can cut off heads and pierce someone’s body in the twinkle of an eye. The situation became a major concern when the creatures started wiping out soldiers. I mean, just one creature could wipe out an uncountable number of people if it wasn’t killed, and in one sphere, there are up to 20 creatures. This is what led the government to begin recruiting more soldiers, with high school seniors being specifically targeted.
The idea was introduced to the high school seniors in the form of an incentive, participants who joined the military training would get extra points, which would help them achieve better results in their graduation.
The movie didn’t focus only on the crisis the world was facing; it balanced both aspects, especially the students’ lives during their training. I must say, the training scenes and how the students gradually transformed into full-blown soldiers were very entertaining.
They didn’t know what was happening outside the school because they were made to stay within the premises and were not allowed to use their phones. All hell broke loose when they went out for real shooting training outside the school environment. They encountered the creatures and were attacked, and a good number of them were slaughtered.
Oh, it feels like I’m narrating everything already. I just want you to see reasons to watch it. What a classic series!
For sure, you can’t take emotions away from such a survival movie. Each death of the students deeply pained every one of them. Those scenes touched me a lot, especially when their commander sacrificed himself so they could live on. Although they had disagreements among themselves, they never failed to look out for each other.
Rating, Opinion, and Criticism
The storyline is excellent. Both aspects were beautifully portrayed, the battles with the creatures and the lives of the students. The scriptwriter clearly understood how to make the story impactful through the inclusion of deaths and emotional moments, especially towards the end, where one of them was overwhelmed by his emotions and decided to kill everyone.
The only shortcoming I noticed was… oh, there’s none at all. The series is perfect and should be rated even higher than the likes of Squid Game and others.
There have been talks about another season, but that isn’t likely to happen because it has been a long time since the first season was released.
Sending you Ecency curation votes.😉
