The forest knows how to keep secrets. To an ordinary passerby, it is merely trees, the rustle of leaves, and a profound silence. But to someone with a metal detector and a map, it is a multi-layered book, with every page hidden beneath ancient roots.

I invite you on a new video walk along the trails of our native Bukovyna, where every step might reveal a secret spanning a millennium.

This video is a joint family project with my daughter, Kateryna! She entered this work into a competition and won one of the top prizes.

From the Chernyakhiv Culture to the 20th Century
Historical research does not begin in quiet archive offices, but right here—in forest ravines and among ancient trees—where one can literally touch the artifacts with one’s own hands.

During this excursion, we managed to uncover remarkable traces of the past:

A Roman silver denarius and a fragment of a bronze fibula serve as vivid evidence that, thousands of years ago, trade and life thrived in the Sokyriany region, and that our land was closely linked to the great European civilization.

Ancient arrowheads and bullets from later wars stand as silent reminders that the right to live and cultivate this fertile land has always been something that had to be fought for.

Ethics and Respect for Nature

For me, one inviolable rule always remains paramount: leave the forest just as clean and untouched as it was before you arrived.

Every hole is carefully filled back in, and all trash is carried out. History belongs to this land, and our task is to preserve its memory without destroying the natural beauty of our native region.

The history of Bukovyna is a magnificent mosaic, and today, together, we have added another small piece to it.

Thank you for your support, for watching, and for your comments! Let’s preserve our history together!
