Some places don’t just look beautiful they teach you something the moment you stand before them. Hidden in the peaceful hills of Barangay Cadapdapan, Candijay, East Bohol, the Cadapdapan Rice Terraces are more than a scenic attraction. They are a living reminder of history, perseverance, and the quiet strength of Filipino farmers.

The Cadapdapan Rice Terraces were shaped long ago by local ancestors who transformed old eruptive and rocky sites into productive farmland. Through patience and determination, they carved the hillsides by hand, creating terraces that could hold water and grow rice. These terraces are sustained by the Cadapdapan River system, the same waters that flow down to Can-Umantad Falls. Over time, the land became a symbol of survival and gratitude its green color representing hope and its golden harvest reflecting the rewards of hard labor.

From Tagbilaran City, you can ride a bus or van bound for Candijay, Bohol. Simply tell the driver to drop you off at the entrance of the Cadapdapan Rice Terraces. From there, a short walk leads you to the viewpoint. For an easier and more convenient trip, many travelers choose countryside or Anda tours that already include Cadapdapan Rice Terraces as part of the itinerary.

Seeing the Cadapdapan Rice Terraces with my own eyes made me feel incredibly lucky. Photos don’t fully capture how peaceful and powerful the place feels in real life. As I looked at the layers of rice fields stretching across the hills, I realized how much effort and patience it takes to farm the land.

This experience taught me an important lesson: being a farmer is not easy. Every terrace represents long days of work under the sun, careful planning, and dependence on nature. It made me appreciate rice not just as food, but as the result of dedication and sacrifice.

Standing there, I felt respect for the farmers whose hands shaped the land and continue to care for it today.Cadapdapan Rice Terraces may be quiet and less crowded, but its story is loud and meaningful. It’s a place where nature, culture, and life lessons come together. At Cadapdapan Rice Terraces, I didn’t just witness a beautiful landscape.I learned to value the hands and hearts behind every grain of rice.
