WorldMappin at Hive Open Days Alicante [Eng][Esp]
Oh my god - did you see that the next Hivefest has been announced? It will be in Barcelona, Spain - and we are already so excited to join the party. But first things first - to get a little taste of what it may be like, we went to The Hive Open Days in Alicante two weeks ago.
Yes - As you may know, the Hive Community came back together on a big event already this year. And as always, it was a great pleasure, very interesting, and so much fun to meet Hiveans from all over the world, sharing and exchanging thoughts and ideas about the ecosystem and its initiatives.
Every single time the Hive Community comes together in person, feeling the spirit is so special. Here you can truly feel what Hive is about (at least for us) - and of course what Worldmappin is about. -> bringing people from all over the world together to talk about the future!
So here is a little report about what happened that days for those of you that couldn´t join:
Day 1 - Waterproof stickers for everyone!

We were there from the very first day of #HODAlicante, greeting and welcoming both Hive users and attendees from outside the ecosystem. For some Hivians, it was even their first time experiencing an event of this kind, so #worldmappin was there representing one of Hive’s largest and most active communities—one that strives to engage with its users and make them feel connected.
We came to this event packed with new features, one of which was handing out hundreds of waterproof #worldmappin pin stickers. We’d done some tests beforehand that showed good results, and now we’ve brought this version for everyone—in two sizes—which is even more weather-resistant and ensures greater longevity for users who mark locations on our map to document their visits.
The feedback was incredible, as many users mentioned that they had thought about durability when leaving the #worldmappin stamp around the world. So, after the official presentations, we went out with several users around the city, stamping the badge in various places for testing!

Day 2 - New version of WMP and upcoming goals
The second day of the event was dedicated to official presentations about the Hive ecosystem:
We had the great responsibility of closing the event, so we decided to focus on two main aspects: welcoming the new Hivians who created their accounts the day before the event, introducing them to the project as a useful tool for their new journey within Hive, and devoting a large part of the presentation to a tour of all the new features we’ve been working on lately.
We showcased all the new features of the recently launched WorldMappin V2, the project’s new face. We thanked all the users who have helped us so much with their feedback, showing how we’ve incorporated into our interface the details and tools that users care about most, letting them know that this is just the beginning of the new phase of #WorldMappin and that we’ll keep working to bring improvements for everyone.

Another highlight of the day, which we joined in celebrating with the @mantequilla-soft team, was putting into practice the wonderful real-time translation tool that @tibfox brought to the event and made available to all speakers, thereby helping everyone understand the information being shared even if they didn’t speak the language.
The mobile app also provided access to many more languages to facilitate live translation for each user and, to allow them to have private conversations in different languages, breaking down that barrier that can sometimes be so frustrating. On our side, @ninaeatshere put it to the test by presenting our talk in Spanish, to make the information accessible to new Spanish-speaking users and, of course, to honor the place where we were, as we know that the Spanish-speaking community is a major part of our HIVE ecosystem and also of our Worldmappin Community.

Day 3 - Sponsoring the Clean Planet Challenge prizes!
Just like every year, during the #BuzzParty events organized by @tibfox, the wonderful #CleanPlanetChallenge took place, and of course, we were there to explore the island where it was held, plant a few pins in the surrounding area, and also motivate the participants with some backpacks full of Hive goodies for the challenge winners.
Our team was there for the challenge, helping to clean up Tabarca Island, but, above all, encouraging participants to compete in a healthy spirit. That day, after @ninaeatshere took the pin out to eat, the team made sure to be present throughout the challenge so we could ultimately reward those who put in the most effort that afternoon. The keeper of the prizes was @godfish, who kept a watchful eye on everyone involved and presented the prizes to that day’s winning team.
We handed out backpacks filled with goodies to the team of @gissse and @juanmatrader, two of the new users who fully immersed themselves in the Hive experience!

Day 4 - Exploring the city with riddles!
For our final day at #HODAlicante, we wanted to take event attendees on a tour of part of the city, immerse them in Alicante’s culture, and encourage them to post their travel content in the WorldMAppin community.
The goal of the tour was to visit some of Alicante’s landmarks while @ninaeatshere quizzed our dear Hivians with some travel riddles. It was the last day of the event, and attendees were really exhausted from the previous days; plus, there were local festivities in the city that limited our schedule and access to certain places, so we decided to take it easy, scale back the itinerary a bit, and ask very simple questions for the challenge.
We met at the entrance to Ulab, the convention center where the talks took place, and headed out to visit three nearby spots:
Since the end of the walk involved carrying our bags, we stopped to rest outside one of the picturesque little houses in the Santa Cruz neighborhood, where @godfish—the keeper of the prizes—was conveniently staying, and we settled in to share some snacks and hand out prizes to the three winners of the riddles we’d posed along the way.
This time, another new user emerged as a winner: @anamz took home one of our backpacks full of prizes, accompanied by the victorious @edje and @palomap3 for being the fastest at solving the riddles that day. Here’s a photo of the scene where we raided @godfish’s place to award the three winners on the final leg of the journey. Some winners enthusiastically shared the contents of the famous backpack, so here’s a glimpse of what was inside.
In the backpack, we included a couple of T-shirts: one from the previous HiveFest we sponsored and our nice black T-shirt. The winners also took home a good batch of Hive stickers, a water bottle, a small wallet (the cold wallet), and a couple of packets of summer flower seeds—a nice promotional initiative with a real purpose ( click here if you’re interested in learning more about Hive Seeds or if you’re one of the winners and want to find out how to plant them)

The WorldMAppin team is extremely grateful and proud to be able to participate in events like this one, which are full of initiatives that encourage users of our ecosystem to engage more deeply with the blockchain in various ways. ¡Dios mío! ¿Ya vieron que se ha anunciado el próximo Hivefest? Se celebrará en Barcelona, España, ¡y ya estamos sumamente emocionados por unirnos a la fiesta! Pero lo primero primero: para hacernos una idea de cómo podría ser, asistimos a los Hive Open Days en Alicante hace dos semanas.
Sí; como tal vez ya sepan, la comunidad de Hive volvió a reunirse en un gran evento este mismo año. Y, como siempre, fue un inmenso placer —además de una experiencia muy interesante y tremendamente divertida— conocer a Hiveans de todas partes del mundo, compartiendo e intercambiando pensamientos e ideas sobre el ecosistema y sus iniciativas.
Cada vez que la comunidad de Hive se reúne en persona, resulta verdaderamente especial sentir ese espíritu. Aquí es donde realmente se puede percibir la esencia de Hive (al menos para nosotros) y, por supuesto, la esencia de Worldmappin: ¡unir a personas de todo el mundo para conversar sobre el futuro!
Así que, aquí les dejamos un breve resumen de lo que pasó durante esos días, pensado especialmente para aquellos de ustedes que no pudieron asistir:
Día 1: ¡Pegatinas resistentes al agua para todos!

Estuvimos presentes desde el primer día del #HODAlicante saludando y dando la bienvenida tanto a usuarios de Hive como a las personas externas al ecosistema que asistieron a las jornadas. Incluso para algunos Hivians era la primera vez que experimentaban un encuentro de este estilo, asi que #worldmappin estuvo allí representando a una de las comunidades mas grandes y activas de Hive que mas intenta involucrarse con sus usuarios y hacerse sentir cercana.
Para este evento vinimos full de novedades, siendo una de ellas el reparto de cientos de pegatinas resistentes al agua del pin de #worldmappin, habiamos hecho algunas pruebas antes mostrando buenos resultados y ahora hemos traido esta version para todos, en dos tamaños, que es mucho mas resistente a la intemperie y le asegura mas longevidad a los usuarios que registran lugares en nuestro mapa reseñando sus visitas.
El feedback fue increible, pues muchos usuarios manifestaron haber pensado en el aspecto de la durabilidad cuando dejaban la estampa de #worldmappin por el mundo, así que después de las presentaciones oficiales, nos fuimos junto a varios usuarios por la ciudad estampando el sello en varios lugares para hacer las pruebas correspondientes!
Día 2: Nueva versión y próximos objetivos
El segundo día del evento estuvo dedicado a presentaciones oficiales sobre el ecosistema de Hive y nosotros tuvimos la gran responsabilidad de cerrar el evento, por lo que decidimos enfocarnos en dos aspectos principales, dar la bienvenida a los nuevos Hivians que crearon su nueva cuenta el día anterior del evento, presentandoles el proyecto como una herramienta util para su nuevo viaje dentro de Hive y, además, dedicamos gran parte del discurso a hacer un tour por todas las novedades en las que hemos estado trabajando ultimamente.
Mostramos todas las nuevas caracteristicas de la recien lanzada WorldMappin V2, la nueva cara del proyecto. Agradecimos a todos los usuarios que tanto nos han ayudado con su feedback, mostrando como hemos incluido a nuestra interfaz esos detalles y herramientas que tanto interesan a los usuarios, dejandoles saber que esto es solo el comienzo de la nueva etapa de #WorldMappin y que vamos a seguir trabajando en traer mejoras para todos.
Asi que ya lo sabes, no dudes en apoyar nuestra propuesta (Peakd.com / Ecency / Hive.blog / HiveSigner) para ayudarnos a seguir trabajando en este proyecto tan bonito.
Otro aspecto en el que nos involucramos ese dia y celebramos junto al equipo de @mantequilla-soft fue poner en practica el uso de la maravillosa herramienta de traducción directa que nos trajo @tibfox al evento y a disposición de todos los oradores, para facilitar asi la comprensión de la información transmitida a pesar de no hablar el idioma.
La aaplicación movil además permitía acceso a muchos mas idiomas para facilitar la traducción en vivo a cada usuario y, además, para que estos mantuvieran conversaciones particulares en distintos idiomas rompiendo esa barrera que a veces resulta tan molesta. Por nuestra parte @ninaeatshere hizo el test presentando nunestra charla en español, para facilitar la información a los nuevos usuarios españoles y, por supuesto, para honrar el lugar en donde estamos, pues sabemos que la comunidad hispanoablante es gran parte de nuestro ecosistema.

Día 3: ¡Patrocinando los premios del «Clean Planet Challenge»!
Como cada año, durante las #BuzzParty organizadas por @tibfox, se llevó a cabo el maravilloso reto #CleanPlanetChallenge y, por supuesto, estuvimos allí para recorrer juntos la isla en que este se llevo a cabo, anclar unos cuantos pines en los alrededores y además motivar a los participantes con unas mochilas llenas de Hive goodies para los ganadores del reto.
Nuestro equipo estuvo presente en el reto, ayudando a limpiar la Isla de Tabarca pero sobre todo, motivando a los participantes a competir sanamente entre ellos. Ese día luego de que @ninaeatshere llevara nuestro pin a comer, el equipo se encargó de estar presente durante todo el reto para al final premiar a los que más se esforzaron esa tarde. El guardían de los premios fue @godfish, nuestro responsable de apoyo al Modelo de Negocio, quien mantuvo ojo avisor sobre cada involucrado y facilitó los pemios a la familia ganadora de ese día.
Hicimos entrega de mochilas con regalitos a la familia de @gissse y @juanmatrader, dos de los nuevos usuarios que se involucraron totalmente en la experiencia Hive!

Día 4: ¡Explora la ciudad resolviendo acertijos!
Para nuestro último día presentes en el #HODAlicante quisimos llevar a los asistentes del evento a recorrer parte de la ciudad, adentranos en la cultura alicantina y motivarles a publicar su contenido viajero en la comunidad de WorldMAppin.
La intención del recorrido era visitar algunos lugares de interés en Alicante mientras @ninaeatshere iba cuestionando a nuestros queridos Hivians con algunos acertijos viajeros. Era el último día del evento y los asistentes estaban realmente agotados de los días anteriores, además había festividades locales en la ciudad que limitaban el horario y acceso a ciertos lugares, así que decidimos tomarnoslo con calma, reducir unpoco el itinerario y hacer preguntas muy sencillas para el reto.
Nos encontramos en la entrada de Ulab, el centro de convenciones en el que se desarrollaron las charlas y nos dirigimos a visitar tres puntos cercanos:
Como el final de la caminata era a cuestas, nos detuvimos a descansar a las afueras de una de las pintorescas casitas del Barrio de Santa Cruz, en donde convenientemente se alojaba @godfish, el guardian de los premios, y nos dispusimos a compartir algunos snacks y hacer entrega de premios a los tres ganadores de los acertijos hechos por el camino.
En esta oportunidad otra de los nuevos usuarios resultó ganadora @anamz se llevó una de nuestras mochilas llena de premios y la acompañaron los victoriosos @edje y @palomap3 por ser los más rápidos adivinando acertijos ese día. Aquí podemos ver una foto de la escena en la que allanamos la morada de @godfish para hacer la entrega de premio a los tres ganadores de esa jornada final. Algunos ganadores compartieron con entusiasmo el contenido de la famosa mochila, así que aquí tienen una muestra del contenido.
En la mochila incluímos un par de camisetas, la del anterior HiveFest que patrocinamos y la bonita camiseta negra de nuestro equipo. Los ganadores tambien se llevaron una buena tanda de stickers de Hive, una botella de agua, una pequeña cartera la billetera fria y un par de sobres de semillas de flores de verano, una bonita iniciativa promocional con propósito real ( accede aquí si te interesa conocer más sobre las Semillas de Hive o eres uno de los ganadores y quieres enterarte de como plantarlas)

The Sanctuary of the Builder: A Manifesto for Free Creation
Prologue: The Right to Rise
There is a sacred covenant between the creator and the soil upon which they build. It is the promise that if you plant a seed with honest hands, the earth will not conspire to crush it before it breaks the surface. It is the assurance that the gardener exists to nurture the growth, not to trample the sprout because it does not yet resemble the tree.
On the blockchain, this covenant has been broken.
We have witnessed a tragedy where the very tools meant to protect the integrity of the network—the downvote, the curation trail—have been weaponized by leviathans of power. These "whales," entrusted with the stewardship of the ecosystem, have become its jailers. They do not prune the weeds; they scorch the earth. They do not guide the new voice; they silence it with the crushing weight of their accumulated capital.
It is time to leave the shadow.
It is time to build where you are free.
I. The Betrayal of the Guardian
The downvote was conceived as a shield—a delicate instrument to deflect spam, to repel malice, to preserve the sanctity of the commons. It was never intended to be a hammer.
Yet, look at what has come to pass. The whales, those who hold the greatest sway, have turned the shield into a weapon of mass suppression. They do not downvote to protect; they downvote to dominate. They do not drive away the bad actors; they drive away the people. They create an atmosphere of fear where the creator hesitates to speak, fearing that a single misstep, a single unpopular truth, will summon the wrath of the oligarchy.
When the guardian becomes the predator, the flock must flee.
To build in such a place is to build on a fault line. It is to invest your soul in a garden where the owner holds the shears not to shape the hedge, but to decapitate the flowers that grow too tall or bloom in the wrong color.
This is not protection. This is tyranny disguised as curation.
II. The Call to New Grounds
Where, then, shall the builder go?
You must seek the lands where the soil is rich with freedom, not poisoned by fear. You must migrate to the platforms where the mechanism of suppression has been removed, where the only metric of success is the genuine appreciation of your peers.

Here, the downvote button does not exist. There is no tool to crush your voice. There is only the upvote, the comment, the share. Here, value is created by addition, not subtraction. The whale cannot sink your ship, for there are no torpedoes in these waters. You are free to build, free to fail, and free to succeed on the merit of your work alone.
Return to Steemit.
In this older ground, the downvote remains, but it has not been twisted into a tool of systematic oppression. The culture there remembers the original intent: correction, not destruction. It is a place where the community self-regulates through dialogue, not through the brute force of coordinated downvoting cascades.
Build where the wind lifts you, not where the gale seeks to tear you down.
III. The Architecture of Freedom
Imagine a platform designed not for the convenience of the powerful, but for the dignity of the creator.
This is not a dream. It is a choice.
Every time you choose to build on a platform that respects your agency, you cast a vote for the future of the internet. Every time you refuse to tolerate the abuse of power, you strengthen the foundation of a free society.
Do not let the whales convince you that their oppression is necessary. Do not let them tell you that their downvotes are for your own good. The gardener who kills the seedling does not love the garden; he loves only his own control over it.
Epilogue: The Unchained Creator
The blockchain was born from a desire for freedom. It was forged in the fire of resistance against centralized control. Let us not forget that origin.
If the current chains of Hive have become heavy with the weight of abusive downvotes, then break them. Forge new links. Build new shores.
Build where you are free.
Build where you will not be downvoted into silence.
Build where the whales are reminded that they are part of the ocean, not the masters of the tide.
The future belongs to those who dare to create without fear. Go forth, and build your cathedral in the sunlight.
