Hello everyone! This is @ybanezkim26 and I'll present today's edition of Travel Digest. In our featured posts, we have waterfalls near Kayabuku, Turkey, a farm in Emgwenya, South Africa, and the city of Baku, Azerbaijan. Enjoy and keep on pinning your travel posts to the map!
As the weather gradually cools and we prepare to enter the winter months, let me tell you about my final summer excursion—to the Uçansu Waterfall in Gündoğmuş—which will help you feel the warmth of summer once again. While it is true that every season possesses its own unique beauty, the fact that the summer season was coming to an end that day brought a touch of melancholy. Yet, knowing that every ending opens the door to new beginnings added a sense of sweet acceptance to that sadness.

There are a whole lot of great opportunities that come from placing second, but we also had an ulterior motive for making the long drive. We really wanted to have our own transport so that we would have the freedom to continue our trip into the Waterval Boven area in the Mpumalanga Province.
The competition finished on Sunday evening and first thing Monday morning we were in the car and on the road with groceries packed for the week. Mpumalanga is less populated with only smaller villages and towns that do not provide the opportunity for grocery shopping that we are used to. After two and half hours on the road we stopped at a fantastic road stop called Milly's. Everyone in this part of the country seem to know about it.

Present-day Baku is a city of staggering architectural whiplash and petroleum-fueled ambition. Stretching along the sweeping crescent of the Caspian Sea, it is a place where different centuries violently collide, creating an urban landscape unlike almost anywhere else in the world. On one side stands the futuristic metropolis: the iconic Flame Towers—three soaring, sail-shaped skyscrapers clad in LED screens that ripple with giant, glowing flames and shifting flags at night—dominate the skyline as a tribute to Azerbaijan's moniker as the "Land of Fire." Just a short distance away, you find sleek, undulating white masterpieces like Zaha Hadid’s Heydar Aliyev Center, sitting alongside grand, late-19th-century European-style stone mansions built during the world’s first great oil boom, when Baku rivaled Paris and London in wealth. Yet, drop into the heart of the city, cross the threshold of the stone fortress walls, and you are instantly transported back a thousand years.
