Hello everyone! This is @ybanezkim26 and I'll present today's edition of Travel Digest. In our featured posts, we have a monastery in Kyustendil Province, Bulgaria, a national park in Moab, Utah, USA, and a miniature park in Elsterwerda, Germany. Enjoy and keep on pinning your travel posts to the map!
The first thing you notice when you arrive is not the monastery. It's the walls. Rila Monastery looks like a fortress from the outside, thick and heavy and not particularly interested in welcoming you, the kind of architecture that was designed to keep things safe rather than to impress passersby.

This is the second day of our recent weekend family trip over the Easter weekend. I posted the first day trip in A Backdoor into the Arches. This post is the second day, where we visited the Canyonlands National Park, but again, not in the conventional way to the Islands in the Sky District by following highway 191 north of Moab and then highway 313 to the west. We decided to skip the standard paved entrance and instead take the "scenic route"—which, in this part of Utah, means navigating red rock ledges and desert washes.

Today, I am sharing our recent visit to a miniature park in Elsterwerda, Germany also called "kleinen Lausitz" which is directly translated to "little Lusatia". On this day, we celebrated my daughter’s 7th birthday.
It was a simple celebration for her. In the morning, I made pancakes and bought some Easter donuts, then placed seven candles on top of them. After breakfast, we surprised her with gifts.
