LOVING THE NEON LIGHTS OF SHIBUYA |

(edited)

Usually, we’re the type that sleep early but sometimes for the sake of experiencing something out of the norm we do stay up late for catching a glimpse of the neon lights. In this case, maybe more than several glimpses because it’s just too interesting. There are probably millions of people crossing the Scramble on a daily basis. On top of that, there were travelers getting a kick out of driving Go-karts. The energy was crazy electrifying. This level of liveliness and intensity can only be experienced within a metropolis.

Before getting to the Scramble, we hanged out for some time near the Shibuya subway area. The lights and display there were quite unique too. Actually, it’s our excuse to try out a new dessert shop nearby. They have one of the best Mont Blanc desserts we’ve ever tried in Japan so far. The signature Mont Blanc cake has several pieces of real chestnuts in it. Normally, we would not have eaten so much sugary food back in our home country but when in Japan, it’s so difficult to resist. Japanese people are too skillful at making sweets. Japanese farms produce the freshest dairy products. We’ll just exercise more to feel better.

Tokyo is one of the most peculiar cities I’ve ever been to. There are just so many different genres of jobs offered here. While the West are fighting over the failure of feminism, there are jobs such as rental boyfriends and rental girlfriends here in Tokyo. Some people may look at these part-time gigs with skepticism. These jobs however are claimed to be purely platonic in nature. Everyone has a right to fight for their survival in the concrete jungle so I refuse to pass off easy judgement. Safety comes first though.

Another thing peculiar about Japan is that they love animals like a lot more than fellow human-beings. Maybe they are right because human hearts are hard to predict. Unlike Hachiko, the loyal Akita dog that patiently waited for his dead owner, humans can be so calculating and sometimes disappointingly deceptive. However, we were very lucky to have found true love in the vast sea of human beings that probably won’t meet each other again after going their separate ways. Maybe they will if they are fated to be. Who knows? We can only hope for the best.

Japanese peoples’ love of animals especially dogs may have founded its origin dating back to the reign of Tokugawa Tsunayoshi. He was fifth shogun of the Edo period. His reign was the most peaceful and prosperous in the entire history of Japan. During that time, anyone harming dogs will be subjected to death penalty. Also, during his reign there was a welfare center for dogs keeping up to 50,000 dogs at government expenses.

Thank you for reading! 💗

In the Philippines, you can legally be arrested even if no crime was completed—an attempt to commit even just an offense is enough under the Rules of Court. Yeah, better to be a dog in Japan than a human being in the Philippines.
