In this blog, I'll be sharing with you the part where we passed through the strong current of water in the lagoon to reach a small land area in Baigad Lagoon, which is home to many plants, endemic or not. We reached this after the lifeguard allowed us to do so while we had our life jackets on. Anyone who visits here should remember how important it is to reach this small area and experience the lagoon from another land perspective.

When we had our life jackets, we started to prepare our tripod and cellphones to document and photograph stunning scenes in the lagoon, as well as capture memories we will treasure forever as we grow together as lovers. The swim towards this small area was not smooth—the current could anytime get strong and disrupt our balance as we were holding the tripod and phones above water, while floating, controlling our bodies not to get swayed by the current and swimming towards the land without getting our equipment wet.

Teamwork was the solution to get there safely with our equipment, and I was really on the verge of panicking when the current got stronger and stronger. Since I had my boyfriend with me, I was then calm and we reached the other shore successfully.

One thing that amazed me in this destination is how the ocean and lagoon meet halfway. I was not able to take a photo on the right side of the lagoon, but there was a part where the water from the ocean and the lagoon meets. That is why the sand in the lagoon was really thick and there were no fish and other aquamarine animals in the water. The current from the ocean made the water inside strong, and sometimes it would slow down, depending on the weather. Such a thing amazed me because of how these two water areas meet and mix to create such a perfect and clean paradise.

Reaching the other shore means witnessing other scenes. If from the beach shore it was a spot to witness full green trees and a deep blue lagoon, from the lagoon it was a stretch of coconut trees and beach huts full of tourists, with a majestic blue sky for a perfect visit. A fine stretch of white sand made the view even more relaxing, with blue waters that are literally clear and unbothered by any chemicals or illegal activities.

We walked around this small round shore, and behind it was just a group of aquamarine trees that blocked the way—it was a dead end. Exploring around meant witnessing such water in the lagoon that attracted my interest the moment I saw it. The water was a mixture of blue and green, and you can see it upon looking at the photos. Trees behind bordered the perimeter of this lagoon, creating a more exclusive and undisturbed water experience.
The lagoon was so cool, and I enjoyed floating on it since there was a strong current going in the opposite direction. We swam there for an hour and talked about things that amazed us in Bantayan. It was really a memorable lagoon experience and a strong foundation of our relationship.

We returned to the beach with a smooth swim since the current was going towards the other shore, and we just floated. One minute later, we reached it and returned the life vests we borrowed to the lifeguard. We then went to an area where an ascending land was located, where some tourists, especially in groups or families, were celebrating or having fun. It was a plain ground above the sand with trees on the edges. It was perfect for big gatherings if they want a more refreshing ocean view while celebrating such occasions.

We rested on a hammock after all we did in the lagoon. Coconut trees were what we viewed above, and it was a lucky experience to have witnessed such a perfect destination and escape from responsibility and pressure temporarily. The idea of allowing myself to be immersed in nature was the best thing I did on holidays to bring back the peace I once had. Life is so fast-paced that I am not doing it often—the slowing down and paying attention to what is around me that matters the most in the present.
Before leaving this part of the lagoon, I took a moment to look back at the journey we had—from crossing the strong current to reaching this hidden spot that not everyone dares to explore. It made me realize that destinations like this are not just about the place itself, but about the experience of getting there, the challenges faced, and the memories created along the way. Baigad Lagoon offered not just a scenic escape, but a deeper travel experience that reminds every traveler to embrace both the calm and the unpredictable moments of every adventure.
