[EN/CZ] The Stone Bridge at the Mill Pond

Hello everyone!

On Saturday, during our weekend getaway, we took a walk to see a historic stone bridge located not far from our guest house, Ráj (which means "Paradise" in Czech).

After breakfast, we set off on our planned loop trail. At first, we walked along an unmarked path across fields and meadows before joining the red-marked tourist trail. This trail led us straight to the stone bridge, the main destination of our trip.

V sobotu během našeho víkendového pobytu jsme se zašli podívat na kamenný most, který se nachází nedaleko penzionu Ráj.

Po snídani jsme vyrazili na naplánovanou okružní trasu. Nejprve jsme šli po neoznačené cestě přes pole a louky, než jsme se napojili na červenou turistickou značku. Ta nás zavedla přímo ke kamennému mostu, který byl hlavním cílem naší cesty.

In reality, the stone bridge looks even more breathtaking than in the pictures. It is about 5 meters long and spans the bed of the Bobří Brook, with the water creating a small, picturesque waterfall underneath. The vaulted arch is formed by the precise, dry-stacking of stone blocks. The stones hold together solely due to pressure and their own weight, without any mortar or binding material. 🙂

Kamenný most ve skutečnosti vypadá ještě úchvatněji než na fotografiích. Je dlouhý asi 5 metrů a klene se přes koryto Bobřího potoka, kde voda pod ním vytváří malý, malebný vodopád. Klenbový oblouk je tvořený přesným a suchým skládáním kamenných bloků. Kameny drží pohromadě jen díky tlaku a vlastní váze, bez jakéhokoliv pojiva. 🙂

If you didn't know that this structure has been standing here for several centuries (likely since the 16th or 17th century), you might actually be afraid to cross it.

Kdyby člověk nevěděl, že tu tato stavba stojí již několik stovek let (zřejmě od 16. až 17. století), měl by možná strach přes ni vůbec přejít.

It has been a long time since a place made such a powerful impression on me. It is a beautiful piece of history that is definitely worth a visit.

Dlouho na mě nic nezapůsobilo tak silně jako toto místo. Je to nádherná historická stavba, která rozhodně stojí za návštěvu.
