Enjoying Cat-Cat Village, Sa Pa - Vietnam Journal #5

Cat-cat Village is a traditional market selling Vietnamese souvenirs. It's also located on a mountainside, so you get two things in one. Unfortunately, I came here at the wrong time. I was completely unfamiliar with the terrain, so I wasn't prepared. So, here's my story from my time at Cat-Cat Village in Sapa, Vietnam.

Cat-Cat Village, Sa Pa, Vietnam

I really like Sa Pa, Vietnam, so I expected the places there to be really nice and would leave a good impression on me, but this one wasn't. It wasn't the place that was wrong, but rather my bad timing. Everything went fine when I arrived at the ticketing box, I paid around IDR 150,000, and started queuing with the other tourists.

I had no idea that the terrain of Cat-Cat Village was downhill, so I felt a lot of pain because I had been around Fansipan the day before. So my legs were too weak to carry me downhill. I was walking with a slight limp, and when I saw that the entire area was a market, my energy dropped even more.

This is the best part of Cat Cat Village, where there's a wooden field. In front of it are several decorations for tourists to take photos with the green mountains in the background. Next to it are restaurants and shops selling various souvenirs. However, the prices are a bit high, so I didn't want to buy anything at this first stop.

I really like this treehouse, and I was excited to go there because the vibe reminds me of Hogwarts. But my legs weren't feeling uphill, so I just took a photo. Isn't it beautiful?!

There are tons of shops and restaurants, one of which is this one—I forget the name, but what drew me to stop after a long hike was the ornaments along the side. The hanging plants were very attractive, and the area was clean and smoke-free. I went there and ordered a young coconut. After a long walk, drinking coconut water was a great treat, along with the view.

Along the path leading to the main area, supposedly the fountain, are stalls selling souvenirs like the one in the photo above. You see, the terrain is downhill, making my legs hurt so much that I couldn't reach the fountain. If I ran, I'd DNF.

This is my favorite photo spot, the white swing. Luckily, my outfit was all white, so it was cute.

Cat Cat Village is a great place, with beautiful views, and great food and souvenirs. You just need to have the right timing. You should go there the day before you climb Fansipan, so it'll really get you excited. So, this is my experience, without any research on Cat Cat Village. I just wanted a pleasant surprise, but I couldn't make it.
