Hoy les comparto mi recorrido por la Fundación "Glorias Deportivas" por la Avenida Gran Mariscal en Cumaná. Es de mencionar, que la Primogénita del Continente Americano, es una ciudad con muchas historias por contar no sólo por sus innumerables batallas pasadas, sino también también por ser la cuna de muchos deportistas que con mucho esfuerzo, disciplina y pasión por el deporte llegaron a alcanzar grandes logros y metas en sus competiciones.

Today I’m sharing my tour of the “Glorias Deportivas” Foundation on Gran Mariscal Avenue in Cumaná. It’s worth noting that the “First-Born of the American Continent” is a city with many stories to tell—not only because of its countless past battles, but also because it is the birthplace of many athletes who, through hard work, discipline, and a passion for sports, went on to achieve great successes and reach their goals in competitions.
Cabe resaltar, que para los cumaneses las instalaciones de la Fundación "Glorias Deportivas" representa un lugar con un alto valor sentimental por todas aquellas emociones que han podido sentir y experimentar al ver a sus atletas alcanzar lo más alto de la cima del deporte mundial con mucha tenacidad y, transmitir un mensaje de esperanza y una cultura deportiva a las nuevas generaciones.
Por otro lado, justo al frente de estas instalaciones se encuentra la esfinge de Elys José Montes, una leyenda del boxeo venezolano. Además, gracias a sus logros alcanzados y su ejemplo de vida sirve de inspiración a la juventud de la Primogénita y del país.
It is worth noting that, for the people of Cumaná, the facilities of the “Glorias Deportivas” Foundation hold great sentimental value because of all the emotions they have felt and experienced while watching their athletes reach the pinnacle of world sports through sheer tenacity, and because the Foundation conveys a message of hope and a culture of sports to new generations.
Furthermore, right in front of these facilities stands the statue of Elys José Montes, a Venezuelan boxing legend. Thanks to his achievements and the example he has set through his life, he serves as an inspiration to the youth of Cumaná and the entire country.
Cuando estaba realizando mi recorrido por este lugar pude ver que en la estatua había algo escrito lo cual captó mi atención y me acerque para ver qué decía aquello. Mi sorpresa fue leer una hermosa e impactante frase en homenaje al entrenador Elys Montes. Dicha frase era la siguiente: La máquina de hacer campeones. Les confieso que eso me impactó y trajo a mi memoria los tiempos de oro del boxeo en Cumaná.
Visitar este lugar ícono de la ciudad es conectarse con la satisfacción de ser sucrense. Nos vemos en la próxima aventura.
As I was walking around this place, I noticed that there was something written on the statue that caught my attention, so I went closer to see what it said. To my surprise, I read a beautiful and powerful phrase paying tribute to coach Elys Montes. The phrase read: “The Champion-Maker.” I must admit that it really struck me and brought back memories of boxing’s golden age in Cumaná.
Visiting this iconic city landmark is a way to connect with the pride of being from Sucre. See you on our next adventure.
