Continuing my tour of the coastal promenades in Cumaná, today I’m stopping in the "Cumaná 500 Años" sector. It features an aerobic walking path and an observation deck with spectacular views of the sea and the Araya Peninsula. The observation deck includes a long blue-and-gray wall, from which you can take in the beautiful seascape, the shoreline, and the crabs that often scurry about in the area during the morning and afternoon hours.
In this part of the city, you can also see the imposing buildings that define the local landscape. During my walk, I came across a curious bench made from a tree trunk. It’s situated right on the beach, near a mangrove tree. It caught my eye, so I paused to take a photo of this striking bench, which looks as if it’s making its way across the beach—the trunk has a sort of "leg" at the back, while the front rests on two rocks. Beside it stands a beautiful mangrove tree, framed by an incredible view of the beach.

Next, we have a spectacular view of the aerobic walkway, featuring a striking and unusual triangular-shaped post, colorful walls, and—nearby—the giant "I Love Cumaná" sign. Up close, we can see mangroves, a cylindrical concrete-and-wood bench, a view of the lookout point, and the shoreline, where several rocks are visible.
This area is perfect for walking, observing the beach and various marine animals, and admiring a beautiful palm tree situated next to the lookout point. You can also see the posts and LED lights here; the palm tree, in particular, caught my eye—I believe it’s the first time I’ve ever seen one in this part of the monument area. Finally, we have a view of the avenue, with some buildings—including the Marina Plaza shopping center—alongside it, set against a clear, beautiful blue sky with just a few clouds. Thanks for joining me on this adventure!
