Normally, I don't go on hikes in November either, but as I miss exploring the outdoors, I was determined to head to Mount Bismo in Dieng, Wonosobo. Last week, a friend and I set off from Pekalongan on a motorcycle. The distance we had to travel was about 90 km or three hours of estimated travel. Because the journey we were about to take was relatively long and the terrain was not easy, my friend and I decided to leave early in the morning. At around 5:30am, we departed from Kajen sub-district. The road was still deserted at that time, so it was easy for us to speed up to get there quickly.
.
It was almost 09.00 am when we entered Wonosobo Regency. We both decided to have breakfast first. Apart from the fact that we hadn't eaten anything since we left home, we also ate to recharge our energy before the hike. After breakfast, my friend and I rushed to Sikunang Village where the climbing base camp that we would use. Registration or SIMAKSI (permit to enter the conservation area) is Rp 30,000/person.

.
As an additional story, this was also my first time climbing without camping. My friend and I wanted to walk leisurely to the top, then rest for a while and go down again. So, we didn't bring a carrier bag and only packed enough food and drinks to consume during the hike break.
After completing the simaksi, tidying up the necessities, finally we set out!
POS 1-2
The journey from the basecamp to post 1 is a path that is still in the area of residents' fields. So along the way to post two, the left and right are potato fields. After about thirty minutes of travel, the path began to thicken. This is a sign that we have almost reached post 2. My friend and I have not felt tired at all. We kept walking, until soon we reached post 2. We took a short break and took photos right in front of the gate.

.
From the gate the track has started to enter the forest and it looks like the fog is starting to descend. I had a hunch that it would be fog all day. The path along post 2 is in the form of dirt steps and roots. Since it wasn't raining, it wasn't slippery. But it was clear that the ground was damp. The steps make it easy for hikers to step on. It doesn't take long to reach post three, it only takes fifteen minutes. There is a large signpost that marks that it has arrived at post 3, the path has started to climb slightly with the terrain still remaining the same in the form of soil and roots. Not far from the post 3 marker, there was a closed stall. My friend and I sat there for a while because the scenery in the town of Dieng below looked beautiful.
POST 3-CAMP AREA
The forest is not too dense here and is a heterogeneous forest. After a short hike from post 3 I found that the trail began to open up and slope. Fun fact: during my hikes to several mountains, this is the mountain with the best slope! I can even run in this area. A few meters later, I entered cam area1. On this route via Sikunang, the camp area is divided into two. Here and another one above near the highest peak, Puncak Indraprasta. Camp area 1 is not spacious, but elongated, usually climbers prefer to build a post in camp area 2, because it is more spacious.

Here, many fern trees begin to grow. Both small and large. After exhausting the camp area, we reached the first peak of Sikunang, Puncak Tugel at 2332 meters above sea level.
.
Everything was covered in fog!

Hello everyone!
If it's sunny, the view here is very beautiful. However, Dieng is often foggy these days according to the officer at the registration site. My friend and I sat down to rest while enjoying our supplies. We had a nice chat because we weren't in a hurry. After re-energizing, we continued our journey.
PEAK NEMU-NEMU AND PEAK INDRAPRASTA

The next path is narrower as it is a ridge. It will continue like this until the summit. By the way, Mount Bismo has at least five peaks. Three peaks are obtained through the Sikunang trail, while the other two peaks are through the Silandak trail. As I said before, I will only get to the highest peak. So, the other two peaks, I did not visit.
.
Fifteen minutes after Tugel Peak, there is a second peak, Nemu-Nemu Peak at 2348 meters above sea level. Although the sun was already visible, the fog was still low. I was a little hopeful that by the time I reached Indraprasta, the lengit would open up and I could get a beautifuloke. view.
Ridge after ridge was passed, the path began to narrow. Along the way, we did not meet any other hikers. I did this hike on a Monday, so there weren't many hikers.
.
Not too long ago, we finally reached the second camp area. This is a very large arena and is located jutting inward. Not right on the hiking trail. This area can be used to set up dozens of tents. For hiking groups, I highly recommend this cam on the Sikunang trail. There is a sign that says you are allowed to camp up to the camp boundary. Not long from this area, the highest peak of Mount Bisma was visible. Here we go, the highest peak of Indraprasta at 2365 meters above sea level.

.
Yeah... finally. Although it was foggy, slowly the blue clouds came into view. My friend and I relaxed for a while, enjoyed the clean air, and finished our lunch (except for drinks, because we still had to leave drinks for the descent).
After almost thirty minutes, we finally decide to go home. Looks like I'll have to come back here during the sunny days. I wanted to show you guys, the view would have been so pretty if there was no fog. But, it's okay, I'm not too disappointed, I'm just happy to finally sniff the mountain air...
Thank you guys for listening to my story. See you in the next story!

What a beautiful experience you shared. Your words truly convey that mix of adventure, peace, and love for nature that makes these kinds of journeys so special. 🌿🏔️ Even though the fog did not allow the views to shine completely, the trip still had a very special charm: the early morning road, the forest, the ridge, the fresh mountain air, and the satisfaction of reaching the summit. I also really enjoyed the way you described each stage of the climb, because it makes the reader feel as if they are walking alongside you step by step. Thank you for taking us with you to Mount Bismo through your story. 💚✨
