This time, I will take you to the last museum in Vedeburg, Yogyakarta. Previously, I wrote about Vredeburg as a whole, as well as its museum, which is divided into several rooms called DIORAMA. The last diorama is diorama 4. It is located at the very back, right next to the rear exit.
In front of this diorama is a large sign that reads VREDEBURG. Visitors usually take selfies or group photos here. But let's go straight into diorama 4 and find out what's inside.

DIORAMA 4 VREDEBURG FORTRESS

From the outside, Diorama 4 is located further away than the other dioramas. The building is truly unique and still retains its colonial architectural style. This two-storey building has a museum on the first floor, while the second floor is used for other rooms that are only accessible to museum staff.
There is a board explaining the entire contents of Diorama 4 about how the Indonesian people maintained the unity of the nation from colonial rule. The various challenges faced by this nation mainly highlight several events during that period in the city of Yogyakarta, such as: the first election in Yogyakarta in 1951, the violation of human rights by the G 30 S/PKI in 1965, and President Sukarno's mandate on the Guidelines for Understanding and Implementing Pancasila (P4) at Gadjah Mada University in 1974.

In a display case attached to the museum walls, there is a replica of the events at the 11th Colombo Plan Conference in 1959, the purpose of which was, among other things, to improve the economies of South Asian and Southeast Asian countries through cooperation and mutual assistance.

Then, after that, I walked down the hallway and headed to the next exhibition, which showed the events of the G30S/PKI human rights violations. The replica depicted the events in Kentungan, Yogyakarta, where military officials exhumed the bodies of heroes who had been victims of the cruelty of those events. While the dark events of October resulted in the deaths of Army leaders, in Yogyakarta, they resulted in the deaths of two TNI ADA officers named Colonel Katamso and Lieutenant Colonel Soegiyono.

In diorama 4, there are indeed not as many exhibits as in the previous dioramas. I only walked around briefly before realising I was already at the exit. But everything was enjoyable, and nothing was wasted.

As I was about to leave, I found a door from the office and saw an interesting inscription, similar to the vision and mission of the Vredeburg Fortress museum. It read as follows:
Vision:
The museum as a vehicle for strengthening the character education of the younger generation through service and integrity.
Mission:
Preserving the noble values of the history of struggle as a medium for character education for the younger generation.
Finally, I have completed all sections of the Vredeburg Fort. Perhaps if I ever visit this city with my nephew, I will bring him back here to learn about the stories and history of a nation that now enjoys its independence.
Thank you for reading my article. See you on my next adventure.

Hi, I am the child of the universe, I like to read books with various genres. I was born in the city of batik but can't draw batik yet. I want to be a novelist, but my works are only short poems that are included in anthology books.
