Moreno Beach: four kilometers of Margariteña tranquility
Happy day to all our friends in this wonderful community. Today I want to share with you a little outing we took during our recent break—a simple outing, but one filled with that sense of peace that only the sea can offer. This time we visited a very welcoming beach, one of those that wins the hearts of families—especially those with young children—because its atmosphere is calm, safe, and has a special charm. I’m talking about the beautiful Moreno Beach, located in the Playa El Ángel area, Maneiro municipality, right here in Nueva Esparta state, on the ever-charming island of Margarita.
Feliz día para todos los amigos de esta hermosa comunidad. Hoy quiero compartirles un pequeño paseo que hicimos durante estos días de descanso, un paseo sencillo pero lleno de esa paz que solo el mar sabe regalar. En esta ocasión visitamos una playa muy acogedora, una de esas que se ganan el cariño de las familias, sobre todo de quienes tienen niños pequeños, porque su ambiente es tranquilo, seguro y con un encanto especial. Me refiero a la hermosa Playa Moreno, ubicada en el sector Playa El Ángel, municipio Maneiro, aquí mismo en el estado Nueva Esparta, en la siempre encantadora Isla de Margarita.
Taking advantage of these days off, we decided to spend some time at the beach, because there’s no better way to relax the mind than listening to the sound of the sea. Although the day started out a bit cloudy, that didn’t stop us from going for a walk. In fact, cloudy days have their own magic; the sky softens, the breeze feels different, and the atmosphere feels cooler, as if nature were inviting us to slow down.
On our way, we took Aldo Samanríquez Avenue, and as we drove along, the familiar scenery signaled that we were getting close to the beach. It’s a route I always enjoy, because every stretch has something memorable: the palm trees swaying in the wind, the scent of the sea that you can smell before you see it, and that coastal atmosphere that defines us so well.
Aprovechando estos días libres decidimos acercarnos un rato a la playa, porque no hay mejor remedio para relajar la mente que escuchar el sonido del mar. Aunque el día amaneció un poco nublado, eso no fue impedimento para nuestro paseo. De hecho, los días con nubosidad también tienen su magia; el cielo se vuelve más suave, la brisa corre distinta y el ambiente se siente más fresco, como si la naturaleza quisiera invitarnos a bajar el ritmo.
En nuestro recorrido tomamos la avenida Aldo Samanríquez, y mientras avanzábamos, los paisajes conocidos nos iban anunciando que ya estábamos cerca de la playa. Es una ruta que siempre disfruto, porque cada tramo tiene algo que recordar; las palmeras moviéndose con el viento, el olor a mar que empieza a sentirse antes de verlo, y ese ambiente costero que tanto nos identifica.
Playa Moreno usually has moderate waves, but where we arrived, the sea was quite calm. On one side is Playa Magnesita—which I’ve already mentioned in another post—and on the other side stretches Playa Moreno; it’s a quieter area, ideal for those looking for a safe spot for children. That’s why many parents prefer this part of the beach, where the water is calmer, the shore is wide, and the atmosphere is completely family-friendly.
Playa Moreno suele tener un oleaje moderado, pero en el punto donde nosotros llegamos el mar estaba bastante sereno. De un lado queda Playa Magnesita —de la que ya les he hablado en otra publicación— y del otro lado se extiende la playa Moreno, es una zona más tranquila, ideal para quienes buscan un espacio seguro para los niños. Por eso muchos padres prefieren esta parte de la playa; dónde el agua es más calmada, la orilla es amplia y el ambiente es totalmente familiar.
One thing I love about this place is the abundance of beach grape trees in the area. Their large, leafy branches provide delightful shade, perfect for sheltering from the sun without blocking the view of the sea. Plus, in some spots there are large rocks lapped by the water, which are ideal for sitting for a while and simply letting yourself be carried away by the moment, listening to the waves and feeling the cool breeze on your face.
Algo que me encanta de este lugar es la cantidad de árboles de uva de playa que hay en la zona. Sus ramas grandes y frondosas ofrecen una sombra deliciosa, perfecta para protegerse del sol sin perder la vista al mar. Además, en algunos puntos hay grandes piedras bañadas por el agua, que son ideales para sentarse un rato y simplemente dejarse llevar por el momento, escuchando las olas y sintiendo la brisa fresca en el rostro.
This beach is very popular with locals because it offers an easy and pleasant walk to enjoy with the family after a week of work. A man we met there told us that Moreno Beach stretches for about four kilometers, from Punta Moreno to Morro de Porlamar. And the truth is, when you walk along it, you really feel that sense of openness and freedom that only long beaches can offer.
Esta playa es muy frecuentada por los lugareños, porque representa un paseo sencillo y bonito para disfrutar en familia después de una semana de trabajo. Un señor que estaba por allí nos comentó que Playa Moreno tiene una extensión aproximada de cuatro kilómetros, desde Punta Moreno hasta el Morro de Porlamar. Y la verdad es que, al caminarla, uno siente esa amplitud y esa libertad que solo las playas largas pueden ofrecer.
As always, the elegant gannets and pelicans were there, flying close to the sea and performing their natural choreography. It’s a sight that never gets old, because they do it differently every day, as if the wind were dictating new moves to them.
Como siempre, no faltaron los elegantes alcatraces y pelícanos, que vuelan muy cerca del mar haciendo sus coreografías naturales. Es un espectáculo que nunca cansa, porque cada día lo hacen distinto, como si el viento les dictara nuevos pasos.
