[ENG/ESP] Punta El Agua: a place that lets you dream between waves, mist, and sea spray.
Hello, fellow #worldmappin travelers! I hope you have a wonderful Sunday filled with peace and positive energy. Today I want to take you with me to one of my favorite spots, a place that always invites me to take a deep breath and ground all my senses. It’s Punta El Agua, a little hidden gem nestled within the famous El Agua Beach, in the municipality of Antolín del Campo, here in our beloved state of Nueva Esparta, on the beautiful island of Margarita.
Hola amigos viajeros de #worldmappin, les deseo un hermoso domingo lleno de calma y buena energía. Hoy quiero llevarlos conmigo a uno de mis rincones favoritos, un lugar que siempre me invita a respirar profundo y alinear todos mis sentidos. Se trata de Punta El Agua, un pequeño tesoro escondido dentro de la famosa Playa El Agua, en el municipio Antolín del Campo, aquí en nuestro querido estado Nueva Esparta, en la hermosa Isla de Margarita.
Since I’ve had the weekend off for Holy Week, we decided to plan a little getaway for Saturday afternoon. Nothing too elaborate, just that simple yet powerful desire to disconnect for a while and let ourselves be embraced by the sea. Punta El Agua is one of those places that, even if you visit it a thousand times, always welcomes you as if it were your first time. That’s why, whenever we can, we go back. It’s almost a ritual: sitting by the sea, talking, gazing at the horizon, and letting the sound of the waves work its magic.
Aprovechando que por Semana Santa he tenido libre desde el viernes, decidimos planear una escapadita el sábado en la tarde. Nada muy elaborado, solo ese deseo sencillo pero poderoso de desconectarnos un rato y dejarnos abrazar por el mar. Punta El Agua es uno de esos lugares que, aunque lo visites mil veces, siempre te recibe como si fuera la primera. Por eso, cada vez que podemos, volvemos. Es casi un ritual; sentarnos frente al mar, conversar, observar el horizonte y dejar que el sonido de las olas haga su magia.
This Saturday, the sky was a little cloudy, and the sun was shining gently, making everything feel more intimate. But far from discouraging us, we thought it was perfect. Although the island is packed with tourists this time of year, this spot remains little-known—almost a secret among locals. And that makes it even more special.
As soon as we arrived, we were enveloped by that fresh, salty scent that only the sea can offer. The mist covered part of the beach due to the strong waves, but even that had its charm. The landscape looked as if it had been painted in soft tones, as if nature had decided to turn down the volume to invite us to contemplate.
Este sábado el cielo estaba un poco nublado, el sol calentaba muy suave, volviendo todo más íntimo. Pero lejos de desanimarnos, nos pareció perfecto. Aunque la isla está llena de turistas por la temporada, este rincón sigue siendo poco conocido, casi un secreto entre locales. Y eso lo hace aún más especial.
Apenas llegamos, nos envolvió ese olor fresco a salitre que solo el mar sabe regalar. La bruma cubría parte de la playa debido al fuerte oleaje, pero incluso eso tenía su encanto. El paisaje parecía pintado con tonos suaves, como si la naturaleza hubiera decidido bajar el volumen para invitarnos a contemplar.
One of the things I love most about this place isn’t just the restaurant “La Casa de Pedro,” which is always a delightful stop, but the constant presence of pelicans and gannets. It’s a sight to see them crossing the beach from one side to the other, flying in a V-formation, using aerodynamics to conserve energy. There is something profoundly beautiful about watching them; they remind you that nature always finds its rhythm, its order, its perfect way of existing.
Una de las cosas que más amo de este lugar no es solo el restaurante “La Casa de Pedro”, que siempre es una parada deliciosa, sino la presencia constante de los pelícanos y alcatraces. Es un espectáculo verlos cruzar la playa de lado a lado, volando en formación de V, jugando con la aerodinámica para ahorrar energía. Hay algo profundamente hermoso en observarlos; te recuerdan que la naturaleza siempre encuentra su ritmo, su orden, su manera perfecta de existir.
And of course, no matter how rough the waves are, if I’m this close to the sea, I can’t resist dipping my toes in the water. Feeling that coolness is like a little reset for the soul. There was some seaweed in the surf, but even that adds to the beauty of the landscape, as if every detail had its own role in the scene.
Y claro, por más oleaje que haya, si estoy tan cerquita del mar no puedo resistirme a meter los pies en el agua. Sentir esa frescura es como un pequeño reinicio del alma. Había algo de sargazo por el mar de fondo, pero incluso eso suma belleza al paisaje, como si cada detalle tuviera su propio papel en la escena.
While we were there, gazing out at the sea from our favorite spot, a group of enthusiastic young people walked by. They were on the community tennis team, and after their match, they decided to take a stroll along the shore to relax. I loved watching them enjoy themselves, laugh, and let the breeze carry them away. There’s always one who’s more daring than the rest, and even though the waves were strong and the yellow flag was flying, one brave soul decided to go in the water anyway. Youth always has that beautiful impulse to live without fear.
Mientras estábamos allí, contemplando el mar desde nuestro rincón favorito, pasaron unos jóvenes muy entusiastas. Eran del equipo de tenis de la comunidad y, después de su partido, decidieron caminar por la orilla para relajarse. Me encantó verlos disfrutar, reír, dejarse llevar por la brisa. Siempre hay uno que se atreve más que los demás y, aunque el oleaje estaba fuerte y la bandera amarilla ondeaba, un valiente decidió meterse al agua igual. La juventud siempre tiene ese impulso hermoso de vivir sin miedo.
After spending quite a while enjoying the scenery, the sea, and the cool breeze that heralded the sunset, we decided to head back. Evening was falling, and the air was getting even more pleasant. As always, I took several photos, because I couldn’t keep this little spot all to myself. I had to share it with you, who love to travel and discover inspiring places.
If you ever come to Margarita, be sure to visit Punta El Agua. It’s a little slice of peace that’s worth experiencing.
Después de un buen rato disfrutando del paisaje, del mar y de la brisa fresca que anunciaba el atardecer, decidimos regresar. La tarde comenzaba a caer y el aire se volvía aún más agradable. Como siempre, tomé varias fotos, porque no podía quedarme con este rincón solo para mí. Tenía que compartirlo con ustedes, que aman viajar y descubrir lugares que inspiran.
Si algún día vienen a Margarita, no dejen de visitar Punta El Agua. Es un pedacito de paz que merece ser vivido.

One of the most beautiful things you’ve ever written to me is the bit about how, against the backdrop of the landscape and on a cloudy day, the colours were more subdued. You couldn’t have put it better. The views of the sea, the waves and the rocks make it truly special, and that little-known spot becomes a real gem.
The soft, light coloured sand blends perfectly with the surroundings, and the warm weather invites you to enjoy the water, although with the yellow flag flying, it’s risky to go in.
