Enjoying the beautiful beach scenery (Eng/Esp)

The state of Sucre offers many options for enjoying a day at the beach; the most popular ones are located in the San Luis, Caigüire, and El Peñon areas. However, the most attractive options are found along the Marigüitar route—relatively nearby spots you can visit in the morning and return from in the afternoon.

The first step is to head to the bus terminal on Las Palomas Avenue, where you’ll board the bus bound for Marigüitar. If you’re unfamiliar with the route, it’s recommended to sit on the side of the bus facing the ocean so you can keep an eye on landmarks, enjoy the scenery, and watch for signs indicating the names of the beaches.

We begin the route along Perimetral Avenue, where you can see the beach all the way to the Salvador Allende Clinic. Then the blue of the sea disappears, only to reappear at El Peñon and the beaches of Camacuey, Secreta, and Chipi Chipi. Reaching the toll booth means we’re at the border of the municipality of Sucre and heading toward the municipality of Bolivar.

From here, the bus ride offers a view of the sea stretching all the way to Muelle de Cariaco. Since we’re taking the main road, the trip only takes a few minutes; after passing Playa Culi, we come to Juana Josefa, Güirimar, Güirintal, and Carenero, which is our destination.

This beach is located past a large pineapple stand and another large establishment—a restaurant that sells cachapas with cheese and fried pork. With such tempting offerings, we can’t miss it. Of course, the return trip is much simpler because the location of the toll booth indicates that we’re back on Cumana soil.

El estado Sucre posee muchas opciones para disfrutar de un día de playa, las más populares se ubican en el sector San Luis, Caigüire y El Peñón, sin embargo, las alternativas más atractivas se encuentran vía Marigüitar, lugares relativamente cercanos a los cuales se puede acudir en la mañana y retornar en la tarde.

Lo primero en este caso es llegar al Terminal de autobuses ubicado en la Avenida Las Palomas, allí se aborda la unidad colectiva con destino a Marigüitar, si no se conoce el camino se recomienda ubicarse en el lado de la ventana con vista al mar, para, además de ir fijándose en referencias, observar el paisaje y estar atento a las señales que indican los nombres de las playas.

Iniciamos el recorrido por la Avenida Perimetral, se aprecia la playa hasta el Ambulatorio Salvador Allende, luego el azul del mar se pierde para reaparecer en El Peñón, en las playas Camacuey, Secreta y Chipi Chipi. Llegar al peaje significa que estamos en la frontera del municipio Sucre y vamos rumbo al municipio Bolívar.

A partir de acá el recorrido en autobús nos presenta una visión de mar que se extiende hasta Muelle de Cariaco. Como vamos por la via, nuestro recorrido apenas dura unos minutos ya que luego de pasar por Playa Culi, viene Juana Josefa, Güirimar, Güirintal y Carenero, que es el destino seleccionado.

Esta playa queda luego de una gran venta de piñas y otro gran local que es un restaurante donde venden cachapas con queso y cochino frito. Ante tales referencias no podemos perdernos. Por supuesto que el retorno es mucho más sencillo porque la ubicación del peaje indica que de nuevo estamos en suelo cumanés.
