The historic district of Cumana is a premier tourist destination, home to some of the landmarks that define the region’s culture and remind us of the roots of the Cumaná people. You can still see colonial architecture and buildings from the early 20th century at iconic sites such as the Santa Ines Church, the Ateneo, the San Francisco Inn, and the Ramos Sucre House.

This area, adjacent to the Sucre State Government building, still retains the charm of bygone eras despite having been renovated on several occasions, such as during the city’s anniversary celebrations, when various murals were created that added great visual appeal to the area.

With their vibrant colors and designs inspired by art studies, these innovative works capture the unique character of a town and the diversity of its cultures through images adorned with floral motifs, butterflies, and other colorful elements. Fishing is honored as the backbone of the economy, alongside Mother Earth, which produces food and products such as cacao, as well as the beaches that distinguish this eastern region and form the foundation of tourism.

One mural pays tribute to the poet Cruz Salmerón Acosta, the singer Gualberto Ibarreto, Marshal Antonio José de Sucre, and the Virgin Santa Inés, to name a few symbols of Sucre State. Walking through this site is to admire the talent of Cumaná’s painters, some of whom are graduates of the Technical School of Visual Arts and the University of the Arts, institutions that contribute to developing and elevating the humanities in the region.

Thanks for using @worldmappin 😘
The murals do tell stories that the artists behold. It's more than just a painting on a wall, but history, inspiration, and people. The colors do make the place even more meaningful and beautiful, it's a masterpiece. Also, the significant amount of effort and love the artists offered for the place is just majestic.
The murals are fantastic; there’s a lot of talent in the city, and the artists have gone to great lengths to create high-quality work.
