Hello fellow travelers of the Hive world!
One of the places I visit daily, almost by necessity, is the Armored Train Monument in my city, Santa Clara, the capital of Villa Clara province, Cuba.
I just realized I've never shared this with you before, and I'm taking advantage of this opportunity to invite you to enjoy this curious place, so popular with the vast majority of tourists who travel through the center of the island.

I say causality because we are nearing the end of the year, and this monument arises precisely from an event that occurred some 67 years ago, marking a turning point in the country's history. The event in question involves a train traveling to the capital loaded with weapons, which was derailed by troops of the rebel army under the command of Ernesto "Che" Guevara, an Argentinian who became a naturalized Cuban citizen and who remains an attractive figure for many people around the world, whether or not they sympathize with his legacy.

The train cars you see here are actual cars from that incident. Although they show some deterioration due to corrosion and neglect by local authorities, there's no doubt that when you walk nearby, something catches your eye beyond the backhoe used in the derailment, which greets you atop a star, still in perfect condition, and beneath which are the administrative offices of the museum staff.

This historic site went through several stages until what is perceived today.

This fractured monolith is a tribute to Che Guevara and those who fell in combat. On its front face, one can read part of what happened, with a final phrase that attempts to glorify the participants in the historical event.

Among some of the train cars, one can see a series of monoliths that symbolize what were explosions that occurred in the derailment resulting from the wartime confrontation.

As a museum, it initially emerged in 1971 thanks to Ramón Rodríguez Limonte, a local artist who imprinted the first sculptural touches that later led, in 1986 and 1987, to José Delarra, a prominent sculptor, imprinting a dynamism with the carriages in the environment as they are now.

This museum has been undergoing renovations for some time, and its train cars are currently closed to the public. However, each car offers something different. Some house permanent exhibitions of weapons, artifacts, and documents that attest to the events of the battle. Other cars display artwork by various creators, adding a cultural dimension to a space that also frequently hosts significant sociocultural events.

I understand that admission remains free for everyone, but there was a time when the cost for foreigners was $1 for guided tours from Monday to Saturday, from 8:30 am to 5:30 pm. Today, although you can't appreciate all its wonders, you can still observe it up close at any time of day or night.

Well, you know, if you ever come to my house, we'll stop by here and you can calmly enjoy every detail of the monument.
Now, I'll continue on my way to other places, but not before sending you all a hug of light!
