Today, my partner and I are traveling to Central Aceh once again. Our journey began early in the morning when the roads were still quiet, the natural surroundings felt fresh, and the weather wasn't too hot yet. However, we had to overcome quite a few obstacles along the route. There were many areas undergoing construction, such as road repairs, landslide-prone zones, and roadside drainage work. Fortunately, the weather today was very favorable for our trip .
When I arrived in Takengon, the first thing I did was stop by a local food stall to rest and have a meal. After everything was finished, I headed straight to the tawar sea area, which was about 1.7 kilometers away.

When I arrived in Mandale Village, I came across a place that looked like a cave once again, but I didn't know what this place actually was. I had passed by this spot several times before, but this was the first time I felt curious enough to start exploring it. That is the reason why I included the word 'discovery' in the title of this post.
In front of the cave, there was a building that looked like a fairly large hut. Inside the building, there were also several people who were resting. Before exploring the cave, I first approached them to ask for some information about the place.
According to the information I received from one of the local residents, it turns out that this place is one of the open archaeological sites in Central Aceh. He also told me that there are prehistoric human skeletons inside the cave. Based on the information I received, this place appears to be a tourist attraction with a long history.
Note: This is the information I received from one of the local residents who was resting in the hut. I do not know whether the information is accurate or not.

After getting some information, I immediately started exploring the cave area. I began climbing a few steps while continuing to look for the entrance. I kept walking all the way to the end, but I couldn't find it. Honestly, I didn't really understand this place, but rather than stress thinking about it , I decided to simply enjoy everything this place had to offer.

Along this cliff, I also managed to find several large openings, but I wasn't sure if they were the entrances. From the top of this place, I could also enjoy the beautiful scenery below.

This cave is located right beside the main road, so anyone passing along this road can easily spot it. This place was very quiet, and I even started having some strange thoughts. So, after enjoying everything and taking in the scenery this place had to offer, I decided to head back down and visit another tourist destination.

finding an archaeological site right by the road sounds like quite the unexpected roadside stop, especially with the local mentioning prehistoric human skeletons inside
I'm still very curious about this place, even I can't find any information about it on the internet.

Caves fascinate me... I look at these images and imagine the scent of their walls and the dampness on my face...
You are absolutely right my friend, but I am still very curious about this place.

Finding a cave right beside the main road in Mandale Village that nobody ever bothered to look into is such a great accident. The local saying it's an open archaeological site with prehistoric skeletons inside is wild - I'd be honest, I'd be a bit skeptical too, but either way it sounds worth the climb. Funny that you walked all the way to the end and never found the actual entrance. Since it's only 1.7 km from Tawar Sea, are you planning to go back and look for another way in?
I'm still very curious about this place, and I want to know about it.
Until now I have not found any information about this place even on the internet, I will be back to explore and find out more about this place on my next visit.
Wow, it turns out this cave holds an extraordinary history. Discovering an archaeological site like this in Central Aceh must be a fascinating experience. The presence of prehistoric human remains makes one all the more curious about what life was like for humans in the past. Thanks for sharing the story I hope the rest of your cave exploration goes well! π
Honestly, I am very curious, and I am sure I will explore and find out every information about this place on my next visit.
It's normal. When we're curious by nature, there's always so much for us to discover! It's good to know that you finally got to explore the cave after passing by it so many times.
