(Travel) Jeju Island: Known as the Hawaii of Korea 🏝️

Today, I’d like to introduce my family trip to Jeju Island. Looking at the photos, it feels as if I am still there. I am so grateful to have captured such precious and beautiful memories, and it was such a happy trip that I want to visit again! I’ll start sharing my story now.

안녕하세요 라라입니다. 오늘은 가족들과 함께 한 제주도 여행을 소개하려고 해요. 다녀온 사진을 바라보면 아직도 그곳에 있는 것처럼 너무 소중하고 예쁜 추억을 담고 올 수 있어 감사하고, 또다시 다녀오고 싶은 마음이 크게 들 정도로 행복했던 여행이었어요!! 지금부터 그 이야기 해볼게요.

We took a flight from Daegu and arrived in Jeju Island!! For this trip, seven of us traveled together: my brother's family of four, my two parents, and myself.

저희는 대구에서 비행기를 타고 제주도에 도착을 했어요!! 이번에 함께한 가족은 오빠네 4식구 그리고 나 부모님 2분 이렇게 7명의 가족이 함께한 여행이었습니다.

Jeju Island, often called the Hawaii of Korea!! With its stunning emerald ocean, Jeju is so beautiful. Although I’ve traveled abroad many times while living in Korea, this was my first time visiting Jeju, so I was really looking forward to this trip.

한국의 하와이라고 불리는 제주도!! 에메랄드 빛의 바다가 너무 예쁜 제주도 한국에 살면서 외국여행은 많이 갔지만 제주도는 처음이라 너무나도 기대했던 여행이었어요.

It was just as beautiful as I had imagined. I love the ocean so much. Looking at the endless sea makes me feel refreshed, fluttery, and happy in a way that words can't describe. My love for the ocean started young—I used to cry when my aunt, who lived by the sea, visited our village because she didn't "bring the ocean with her." I still love it just as much today. Seeing the stunning waters of Jeju, a place I’ve wanted to visit for so long, made me want to jump right in, but I had to hold back since the weather isn't quite warm enough for swimming yet! ^^

생각했던 것만큼이나 너무나 아름다운 곳이었어요. 저는 바다를 너무나도 좋아해요. 끝이 없는 바다를 보면 마음이 시원해지고 설레고 두근거리고 행복해지는데, 이건 말로 표현이 되지 않아요. 어릴 때부터 바다 근처에 사는 고모가 시골에 오면 바다를 들고 오지 않았다고 울 정도로 바다를 좋아했고 지금도 좋아합니다. 그런 제가 그토록 오고 싶었던 제주도 예쁜 바다를 보며 너무나도 뛰어들고 싶었지만, 아직은 물에 들어갈 수 있는 날씨는 아니라 참느라 힘들었어요^^

How is the ocean? Beautiful, isn't it? The emerald color of the water really made my heart flutter. And I made a promise to myself right here: I will come back with my parents in the heat of summer and stay in the water forever!!! lol

바다 어때요? 예쁘죠? 에메랄드 바다빛이 정말 제 마음을 설레게 만들었어요. 그리고 이곳에서 다짐했어요. 부모님과 함께 다시 뜨거운 여름에 찾아와 물에 들어가서 나오지 않으리!!! ㅎㅎㅎ

It looks deep at a glance, but for some reason, I felt so confident that I wouldn't drown if I jumped in; all I could think about was playing in the water! ^^ In reality, however, I couldn't do that, so I just took a ton of photos of the ocean instead.

딱 봐도 깊어 보이는데 어떤 자신감인지 뛰어들어도 죽지 않는다는 생각이 들면서 물놀이 하고 싶다는 생각만 들더라고요^^ 하지만 현실은 그렇지 못하고 바다 사진만 엄청 찍었습니다.

I can't forget this picture-perfect place!! I feel like I can still see it right before my eyes ^^

Leaving the ocean behind, we went to grab a meal. My sister-in-law had researched and booked a great restaurant in advance^^ I was so grateful. It was wonderful to eat so much delicious food!! My only concern is that I ate so much that I gained a lot of weight ㅠㅠ sob

바다를 뒤로하고 식사를 하러 갔어요. 저희 새언니가 맛집을 미리 알아놓고 예약을 했더라고요^^ 감사했어요. 정말 맛있는 음식들도 많이 먹을 수 있어서 좋았는데!! 걱정은 너무 많이 먹어 살이 많이 쪘다는 거 ㅠㅠ 흑흑

The second place we visited was a camellia park. It was my first time seeing so many flowers in one place, and the garden was so vast that we couldn't even explore it all. I took many beautiful photos with my family here.

두 번째로 방문한 곳은 동백꽃 공원이었어요. 이렇게 많은 꽃들이 있는 건 처음 봤고, 모두 다 둘러볼 수 없을 정도로 너무나 큰 정원이었어요. 가족들과 이곳에서 예쁜 사진을 많이 찍었답니다.

I also visited Jusangjeolli Cliff, which looks like a sculpture crafted by nature. These vertical, column-shaped rocks were formed when hot lava met the sea and cooled rapidly. It’s mysterious how these elaborate columns, looking as if carved by a sculptor, blend so perfectly with the ocean. It was a spectacular sight that let me fully experience the mystery of Jeju as a volcanic island.

자연이 만든 조각품 같은 주상절리도 보고 왔어요. 뜨거운 용암이 바닷물과 만나 식으면서 만들어진 수직 기둥 모양의 바위인데, 마치 조각가가 깎아놓은 것처럼 정교한 기둥들이 바다와 어우러진 모습이 정말 신비로웠어요. 화산 섬 제주의 신비로움을 온몸으로 느낄 수 있는 장관이었습니다.

I also visited Yongmeori Coast, famous for its majestic coastal cliffs. The sandstone layers accumulated over tens of millions of years create a stunning view, and the blue sea visible between them was truly fantastic. It was a place that once again made me admire the mysteries of nature.

웅장한 해안 절벽이 매력적인 용머리해안에도 다녀왔어요. 수천만 년 동안 쌓인 사암층이 겹겹이 절경을 이루고 있는데, 그 사이로 보이는 푸른 바다가 정말 환상적이었어요. 자연의 신비로움에 다시 한번 감탄하게 되는 곳이었습니다.

I also encountered special plants that can only be seen in Jeju. The tangerine trees ripening yellow under the blue sky perfectly captured Jeju's freshness, and the cactus colonies growing resiliently on the barren land gave off a truly exotic vibe. It was a gift-like scenery from Jeju's nature that isn't easily found on the mainland.

제주도에서만 볼 수 있는 특별한 식물들도 만났어요. 파란 하늘 아래 노랗게 익어가는 귤나무는 제주의 싱그러움을 그대로 보여주었고, 척박한 땅에서도 강인하게 자라난 선인장 군락은 이국적인 분위기를 물씬 풍겼답니다. 육지에서는 쉽게 볼 수 없는 제주의 자연이 주는 선물 같은 풍경이었어요.

Next, we headed to Arte Museum Jeju, where you can experience the essence of media art. From spaces filled with colorful flower rain to exhibitions that made me feel like a character in a famous painting, it was a mesmerizing time. The video of a giant wave crashing right before my eyes was especially overwhelming! We had an unforgettable time taking photos of each other and creating wonderful memories together.

다음으로 발길을 옮긴 곳은 미디어아트의 진수를 느낄 수 있는 아르떼뮤지엄 제주였어요. 화려한 꽃비가 내리는 공간부터 명화 속 주인공이 된 듯한 기분을 느끼게 해주는 전시까지, 눈을 뗄 수 없는 황홀한 시간이었답니다. 특히 거대한 파도가 눈앞에서 휘몰아치는 영상은 정말 압도적이었어요! 가족들과 함께 서로 사진을 찍어주며 잊지 못할 추억을 만들었습니다

I'll wrap up this Jeju trip with some group photos of my family. Traveling as a large family of seven starting from Daegu wasn't always easy, but seeing the bright smiles in these photos makes me realize it was totally worth it. From eating delicious food to seeing breathtaking scenery, but most importantly, being together with my loved ones all day long made this trip so fulfilling. I'll take these precious memories as fuel to get back into my daily routine! I truly hope we can all come back here together again soon.

가족들과 함께한 이번 제주도 여행의 마지막은 단체 사진으로 장식할게요. 대구에서 출발해 7명의 대가족이 함께 움직이는 게 쉽지는 않았지만, 사진 속 환하게 웃는 얼굴들을 보니 오길 정말 잘했다는 생각이 드네요. 맛있는 것도 먹고, 멋진 풍경도 보고, 무엇보다 사랑하는 가족들과 온종일 함께할 수 있어 마음이 꽉 찬 여행이었습니다. 이 소중한 추억을 에너지 삼아 또 열심히 일상을 살아가야겠죠? 다음에도 꼭 다 같이 다시 오고 싶어요!
