While walking through the Historic District of Cumana, I decided to explore the Antonio Jose de Sucre House Museum, a public space that opened on December 30, 2024, and which I’ve only now had the chance to visit. This museum is located within the grounds of the San Antonio de la Eminencia Castle and can be accessed via two routes; on this occasion, I entered via The Luneta Street.

I was greeted by a flight of stairs leading into the museum, which looks very well-maintained, as various staff members are responsible for upkeep and assisting visitors. The museum is on the right, but first you have to stop by the reception desk to let them know you’ll be visiting.

I was pleasantly surprised to find a library containing works about the great Marshal of Ayacucho. Once I checked in, a very friendly young man served as my tour guide through the facilities. The first thing he told me was that this museum had been restored to honor the memory of the Sucre family and, in this way, to respect the legacy of Cumana’s most renowned son.

The facilities look impeccable. Since the Sucre family was wealthy, they had a chapel inside their mansion; for this reason, a replica inspired by the original from that era was built in the museum. According to the Sucre family’s records, they were Catholic and, as such, devout worshippers of the saints who can be seen in the photographs.

Colonial art is on display in every corner; the walls of this space feature striking blue designs that give them an elegant look. The lamps are also very eye-catching. Every detail is in keeping with the era, which helps create an enigmatic atmosphere—it feels as if you’ve traveled back in time and arrived at a marvelous setting.

Thank you ☺️
I like the colonial art that can be glimpsed, and if there's a library, it must be fabulous, with beautiful infrastructure.
